Parliament cannot script a judgement of a court. Parliament can only legislate and hold institutions, including Judiciary and Executive, accountable. Judgement writing, adjudication, is the sole prerogative of Judiciary, as much as legislation is that of the Parliament. But frequently we are seeing that the executive governance is by judicial orders. When the government is elected by people, it is accountable to Parliament. The government is accountable to the people at election. There is a principle of accountability in operation. In Parliament, you can ask questions, critical questions, because the governance is by the Executive. But if this executive governance is by Judiciary, how do you ask questions? Whom do you hold accountable in elections? Time has come for our three institutions, Legislature, Judiciary, and Executive, to blossom. And they blossom best when they operate in their own area. Any incursion by one in the domain of the other poses a challenge, which is not good. It can upset the balance. The relationship between these three must be wholesome, soothing, one of deep understanding and coordination, not show of authority. #RajyaSabha

There is continuity in governance. The Prime Minister never acknowledges continuity in governance because he is perennially searching for self-glorification and self-publicity. This 272 km long Udampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway project was sanctioned in March 1995, when Shri PV Narasimha Rao was the Prime Minister. In March 2002, it was taken forward and declared a national project by Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji's government. Subsequently, there have been five major projects undertaken under the leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh—the last one in 2013—before PM Modi's visit today. So, roughly two-thirds of the whole project was already completed, and about 100 km of it was left, which is being inaugurated now. The Indian National Congress congratulates the entire Indian railway sector, public sector companies, and private sector companies which were part of this project. Everything I have always said about His Excellency Peter Obi comes down to one thing leadership built on prudence, accountability, and genuine concern for the people. Through our model camps across two blocks, 22 citizens who had been living in darkness due to cataracts were referred for surgery at Kalyani Eye Hospital in Nimtouri and have now regained their sight. At the recent Round Table Meeting of the Senate Committee on Water Resources, I raised the issue of intervention projects supposedly completed within my constituency but kept hidden from my oversight since last year, despite my repeated requests for information. As the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, I firmly believe public officers must be held accountable for their actions. This principle has driven me to demand comprehensive details about the intervention projects reported as completed in the FCT. These projects were intended to benefit the people of the FCT; yet, while they appear completed on paper, there is no visible evidence of them. This raises critical questions: Who were the contractors? Who approved and supervised these projects? These are answers I am committed to finding. While minor delays or concealed information on one or two projects might be conceivable, it is highly troubling when 14 projects—covering essential areas like road construction, perimeter fencing, health care centers, and fertilizer distribution—are claimed to be completed without transparency. This lack of accountability from the Director General of the Niger Basin Development Authority demands serious scrutiny. We must do better. Nigeria deserves a system rooted in transparency and accountability, where leaders are held responsible for their actions and decisions to build a nation for all. From his prudent management of Anambra State resources, to his consistent advocacy for cutting the cost of governance, investing in education, supporting small businesses, and building a productive economy, Peter Obi has remained one of the few Nigerian leaders whose public and private records continue to reflect discipline, transparency, and accountability. Rather than wasting public funds on luxuries, unnecessary convoys, extravagant government spending, or personal comfort projects, he has consistently preached and practiced leadership built on sacrifice, prudence, and service to the people. As conflicts persist, as new threats emerge and as old institutions falter, the pursuit of global peace and security has never been more urgent or more complex. The United Nations, in particular the Security Council, is the preeminent instrument for the maintenance of international peace and security. Yet, it has too often failed to meet the challenges of today. In responding to these challenges – ranging from humanitarian crises to open acts of aggression – the Security Council has become too rigid, too narrow and too disconnected from today’s multipolar realities.
