😳😳😳😳 PRINCIPAL RACHEL, REALLY? There is a video making the rounds of Principal Rachael Alamu during her thanksgiving service. Mrs. Rachael, the principal and victim of the Oriire school abduction said the kidnappers were vehemently upset that military aircraft was hovering over their location and threatened to execute more hostages. In her own words: "The leader approached and said, 'Principal, come here.' I was trembling because I understood the implications. When I reached him, he stated, 'Look at what your government has done; I will kill one of you today.' I just fell on the floor and begged, saying, 'I BROUGHT FOUR MEN, and only two are left, and you still want to kill another one?” Principal, you don’t mean it. YOU BROUGHT FOUR MEN? These comments of Madam Rachel are indicting. “I brought four men…the knowledge of the other two will continue to hunt me…”

🇳🇬 JUST IN: Abducted school principal releases fresh distress video, says kidnappers have selected a victim for execution as captives plead for urgent rescue. A new video has emerged showing the abducted principal, Mrs. Alamu, making an emotional appeal to the government, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and President Bola Tinubu for urgent intervention. Speaking from captivity, Mrs. Alamu said both teachers and schoolchildren have been exposed to harsh weather conditions, enduring sun and rain for weeks while being held by the kidnappers. She further revealed that the kidnappers are becoming increasingly impatient and have allegedly selected one of the captives to be killed following an earlier attempt by security forces to rescue them. In the video, Mrs. Alamu repeatedly appealed to the authorities and Nigerians to help secure their release before the situation deteriorates further.

“I just want to see my husband.” The principal rescued after 56 days in captivity in Oyo has shared her ordeal. She says none of the victims was sexually assaulted. She wasn’t beaten, but some of the younger children were flogged because they were noisy. The men were blindfolded and handcuffed, while the captives were forced to trek for hours through the forest at night whenever the kidnappers feared security forces were closing in. A heartbreaking account of survival.

The Oyo State Government has demolished a building used as a hideout by the kidnappers of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, and her twin sons. The exercise, carried out early Monday morning—less than 48 hours after security agents secured the victims’ release—was executed by the Ministry of Lands and Housing in collaboration with security agencies, following intelligence reports linking the structure to the criminal gang responsible for the abduction. #ChannelsTVNews

I have just seen the VIDEO of Mrs Aramu, the Head Teacher of the Oyo kidnapped school children. In her final words, she said, “The scars are there already but I believe that with time we will heal.” I truly like and appreciate the woman’s optimism and positive energy. But I am equally worried about it. Her speech sounded well-rehearsed and themed to uplift and calm the public. It didn't look natural. I had expected a true and detailed narration of the events and revelations of what had transpired in those 56 days that they were trapped in the kidnappers’ den. But it appears the details are not meant for the public. Does this explain why she and the kids were shielded from the media/press immediately after they were released? Was it also the reason officials of the Oyo State government were not allowed access to them?✍️

President Catherine Connolly was among those who addressed the crowds at Belfast City Hall during the first day of the Fleadh. Crowds spilled out into the streets to watch screens airing her speech, to which she said it was ‘very special’ the event was being held in the city. The President said: “Over the next week, Belfast will welcome visitors from all corners of Ireland and the world… what lies ahead is a celebration of what we all have in common, and the universality of music, song, and dance.” 🎥 Dylan Hegarty

When discussing Yoruba history with the ThinkYorubaFirst or Yoruba Nesan guys, one of the things I came across is the cognitive dissonance in being receptive of the fact that one's ancestors may have committed terrible acts. They accept that Oyo collected tributes from several towns. They accept that Oyo sacked towns that refused to bow to its will. They accept that Oyo sold people into slavery. What they don't accept is that, Oyo which did all these could at one point have persecuted its Muslims, even when Lander and co who were in Oyo in 1825/1826 reported they were told Muslim preaching (before the Afonja/Hausa revolt) increased to such a level, in Oyo that traditional worshippers caused the King to slaughter some of them. And several Muslims in Oyo were being sold into slavery, even when there was an initial standing order about Abaja tribal mark bearers to not be sold. Some have even dispelled the notion of a "Male Rebellion" in its entirety, even when it's a recognised Brazilian event. To these folks, Because Nigeria is accommodating, we must deliberately dispel the fact, that the same country once did "Ghana-Must-Go". There are several families of Oyo descent, now resident in Ilorin, who fled religious persecution, and yet some will seek to argue endlessly. The Yoruba Purists gleefully say they speak Oyo dialect of Yoruba, insist their Pamu-Pamu dance is from Yoruba, their Kengbe songs is derived from Oyo, but don't agree they were persecuted. Why bother to establish "Oke-Sunna" as a Muslim settlement, in the first place if they were so free during that decade. Anyways, the point is simple, all those who revolted had an axe to grind with Oyo. Afonja who had an axe to grind because he was sent on a suicide mission to Iwere-Ile. Persecuted Oyo Muslims, who were being killed and sold to slavery. Sabaruma Hausa slaves on whose backs Oyo's Calvary standing depended upon as they loved servile lives. Oyo provincial warriors who chose to seek independence away from Oyo and who stopped sending tribute. Ooo, Add up the Egbas before 1780,under Lisabi Agbongbo Akala. Add up the Baribas (Kaiama) in 1783. Add up the Nupes, in 1791. Add up the Dahomey (King Gezo) around 1823, that gained independence from Oyo and refused to send anymore tributaries. Here is a foreign take about the Male Rebellion of January 1835 (Ramadan Rebellion) led by Yoruba Muslim slaves. The Male Rebellion was not called "ANAGO" which would have implied every single Yoruba irrespective of religion. They were emphatic it had a religious character, and Brazilian Museums still hold the artifacts of those Muslim slaves.
