This was made known in a statement shared on the agency's X account... on Monday. According to NAFDAC, the seized items, which include Cocodamol and counterfeit GSK Ampiclox, were swiftly evacuated in an ongoing crackdown on the illegal drug trade. The statement said, "#IdumotaUpdate This morning, we uncovered large consignments of Cocodamol and falsified GSK Ampiclox, which have been evacuated. The statement reads: "A cocaine trafficking cartel headed by a couple: Bolanle Lookman Dauda and Olayinka Toheebat Dauda has been smashed in Lagos and Ogun States by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with multi-billion-naira worth of the illicit drug recovered in two major operations following the arrest of the kingpin and his queen in one of the intelligence-led raids. "The duo were arrested on Saturday 25th May 2024 by operatives of a special operation unit in NDLEA with the support of the Drug Enforcement Administration of the United States at Ibiye, along Lagos-Badagry expressway while attempting to cross the land border to deliver the consignment in Ghana. Fentanyl, a lethal synthetic opioid, which is 100 times more potent than heroin is currently responsible for over 70% of overdose deaths as well as a major contributor to fatal and nonfatal overdoses in the US. It is one of the biggest pharmaceutical scandals in history and resulted in GSK being fined $3 Billion by the Justice Department but by this time the damage had been done and they had already made $11.6 Billion in profits from the drug. Listen to the stories of parents who found their children hanging in their homes because the drug drove them to suicide and realize how evil this industry truly is. The kicker? GSK knew years before that it increased suicidal behavior in minors and buried the data so that they could prescribe it off-label to a larger market. How anyone can put their trust in this industry and our regulatory bodies ever again, let alone their own children’s lives, is beyond comprehension. You will be left enraged after watching this.
