It's actually outrageous and unacceptable for anyone, especially a public figure, to disregard a symbol of national unity and pride, Tinubu as president or not. @AishaYesufu If you can't respect the anthem and what it stands for, you don't deserve to enjoy the freedoms and rights that come with being a citizen of this great nation.

I'm just pissed with the comments I'm seeing here. If we're all normal in this country, we would've rebel against this government for introducing this retrogressive anthem against our will and without public consultation. It shows we've being caged & we're not bordered about it.

NIGERIA IS NOW DIRECTLY UNDER US STATE CAPTURE BREAKING: U.S. Embassy in Nigeria Now Directly Coordinates With NSAโ€™s Office To Arrest Nigerian Citizens Over Criticism of Israel, USA In a stunning development, the United States Embassy in Nigeria has established a direct coordination framework with the Office of the National Security Adviser to monitor the social media activities of Nigerian citizens, directly recommending individuals for arrest and prosecution based on their online criticism of Israel and the United States. Under this framework, exclusively revealed to Sovereign Media, two Nigerian social media users, Sani Buhari and Abubakar Adamu, were recently arrested by the Department of State Security Services (DSS) and charged in court for posts on X that were critical of Israel's genocide in Palestine, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and US president Donald Trump. Buhari was eventually released, but only after posting a clearly forced apology to the US Embassy on his X handle by the DSS, while Adamu remains in custody. Since Bola Ahmed Tinubu took power in Nigeria in 2023, West Africa's erstwhile regional pillar, whose foreign policy still officially follows an "Africa First" doctrine, has increasingly begun operating as a satellite extension of western powers, including France and the US. For example, in December 2025, during a coup attempt in Benin, Tinubu deployed Nigerian air and ground forces to quell the attempt on the orders of French president Emmanuel Macron. The escalating pattern of policy decisions and geopolitical moves locking Nigeria into multiple security partnerships with western governments is raising the real possibility of the country being retrofitted into a vassal state without the ability to set its own internal security priorities, with foreign interests dictating what its citizens are allowed to say. If Nigeria's compromised foreign policy posture is not addressed quickly, Africa could see one of its most important countries abandon its historic role as a pillar of Pan-African support and turn into the continent's most dangerous vassal state. 3 SEPTEMBER 2025 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PRESS STATEMENT ADC to First Lady: National Library is Not a Gift โ€“ Says Nigeriaโ€™s Intellectual Heritage Must Not Depend on Charity The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on the Federal Government to immediately take responsibility for completing the long-abandoned National Library of Nigeria project in Abuja, warning that a national monument of such importance should not be left to private charity. Reacting to recent comments by First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, who announced her intention to support the libraryโ€™s completion as part of her birthday celebrations, the ADC expressed appreciation for her gesture, but stressed that the National Library cannot be reduced to a personal pet project. According to the party, the National Library, established by an Act of Parliament in 1964, is the custodian of Nigeriaโ€™s collective memory and intellectual heritage. In this regard, its completion and long-term maintenance, the ADC argued, must be prioritized through transparent, sustainable and predictable national funding, not through goodwill donations. The full statement read: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) acknowledges and appreciates the thoughtful gesture of The First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, in drawing attention to the abandoned National Library of Nigeria project in Abuja as part of her birthday celebrations. However, as a responsible party, we must firmly state that the National Library of Nigeria cannot, and must not, be reduced to the status of a personal pet project of any individual, no matter how well-intentioned. The National Library is a living repository of our collective memory and intellectual heritage. It is the custodian of Nigeriaโ€™s story, culture, research, and knowledge production. It is not just another building. It was established by an Act of Parliament in 1964, as a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Education to ensure that future generations have access to the wealth of knowledge needed to build a progressive and enlightened society. Therefore, for sustainability purposes, the library and its projects must be funded through national budgetary provisions. Now that Mrs. Tinubu has shown interest in the National Library, what is required is not personal charity, but presidential attention. The First Lady should use her influence to impress upon President Tinubu the urgency of completing this project through budgetary allocations. From what we know, the responsibility for its funding was at some point shifted to TETFUND. This explains why there were no direct budgetary allocations for the library in both the 2024 and 2025 budgets. But let us be clear: the National Library of Nigeria is far too important to be treated as an afterthought or left to depend on the goodwill of well-meaning individuals. A nationโ€™s intellectual heritage cannot rest on acts of benevolence, while being deliberately neglected in the appropriation process. We thank Mrs. Tinubu for her concern and for drawing attention to this long-neglected project. However, with all due respect, โ€œNo ma!โ€ Signed, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi National Publicity Secretary African Democratic Congress (ADC)

Nigerian home decor ideas The Nigerian mother who recently sparked outrage online after a video showed her allegedly feeding her baby with alcohol has come forward to clarify the incident. The controversial video, which circulated widely last week, showed the woman feeding her five-month-old baby from a sachet labelled โ€œAction Bitters,โ€ with a caption suggesting it was given every night to make the child sleep. The Nigeria Police Force subsequently launched an investigation into the incident, as many Nigerians called for her arrest over concerns of child abuse. However, in a new video which started trending on Wednesday, the unidentified mother claimed that she did not give her child alcohol but rather Coca-Cola, which she had poured into an empty Action Bitters sachet. She insisted the act was staged purely for โ€œcontentโ€ to attract engagement online and said she had video evidence showing when she washed the sachet and filled it with Coke. To support her claim, she said she had another video showing the moment she filled the sachet with the soft drink. โ€œAbout the video I posted earlier, that is not Action Bitters. It is Coke. I poured Coke into the sachet. Since I posted the video, people have been dragging me on social media,โ€ she said. โ€œTo be sincere, it was Coke I poured into the Action Bitters sachet. I even have a video on my phone showing when I was doing it. โ€œMy baby is just five months old. I would never give her Action Bitters. I am not that kind of mother. I do not even take it myself. The mother admitted she underestimated the backlash and said the video was simply a failed attempt at creating viral content. โ€œTo clear the air, it was Coke I poured into the sachet, and I washed it before using it. I was just trying to create content, nothing more. We are begging Nigerians, please forgive us.โ€ --- Follow us for more breaking news and videos
