If Christ founded one Church, where was your church before Luther? And if the Catholic Church was not the Church founded by Christ, then where was the true Church for 1,500 years? Christ promised the gates of Hades would not prevail against His Church. So what happened? Did the Church vanish? Did Christianity completely collapse into error until the 1500s? Many appeal to “corruption” or “creeping heresy,” but cannot answer the basic historical questions: Who specifically corrupted the Church? What doctrines were changed? When did it happen? 🙏🇷🇸 Due to overwhelming interest, the Belt of the Most Holy Theotokos will remain at the Saint Sava Temple in Belgrade until June 5. For days, thousands of believers have waited in long lines, some for more than 8 hours, to venerate one of the greatest relics of the Orthodox Christian world. The Serbian Orthodox Church announces that the church will remain open as long as there are believers wishing to pray before the relic. According to tradition, the Belt was woven by the Virgin Mary herself from camel hair and later entrusted to Apostle Thomas. Pope Paul VI stated it with clarity: “The Church holds that it is not admissible to ordain women to the priesthood, for very fundamental reasons. These reasons include: the example recorded in the Sacred Scriptures of Christ choosing his Apostles only from among men; the constant practice of the Church, which has imitated Christ in choosing only men; and her living teaching authority which has consistently held that the exclusion of women from the priesthood is in accordance with God’s plan for his Church.” This is not a matter of cultural preference or temporary discipline. It is a question of the sacramental configuration of the priesthood to Christ the Bridegroom. The priest acts in persona Christi Capitis — in the person of Christ the Head. Christ was a man. He chose only men as Apostles. The Church has never claimed the authority to alter that choice. This does not mean women are of lesser dignity. The greatest human person after Christ is a woman: the Blessed Virgin Mary. She is the highest creature, the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven, and the perfect model of the Church. No priest, bishop, or pope surpasses her in holiness or importance. The Church has always honored the unique and irreplaceable dignity of women — as mothers, as consecrated virgins, as teachers, as mystics, as the heart of the domestic church, and as the ones who so often carry the faith forward when men fail. Male and female are not interchangeable roles in the order of grace. They are complementary. The priesthood is a fatherly office. The Church herself is maternal. To confuse these is not progress; it is a loss of the very nuptial mystery that runs through all of Scripture — Christ the Bridegroom and the Church His Bride. What the Anglican Communion has done in ordaining women as bishops (and now installing a woman as Archbishop of Canterbury) is a departure from the apostolic tradition that the Catholic Church is bound to safeguard. What if I told you that this is where (see the video) the very first parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) began? Would you believe it? Long before RCCG became a global ministry with thousands of parishes across continents, its humble journey started on Willoughby Street, Ebute-Metta, Lagos. That modest building holds a special place in the history of the church. Every first Sunday of the month, which is Thanksgiving Sunday, Pastor E. A. Adeboye worships at the RCCG National Headquarters, The Throne of Grace (TOG), in Ebute-Metta. Earlier this year, while the reconstruction of Cemetery Street was underway, Daddy took an alternative route to the headquarters. As he drove along Willoughby Street, a memory came flooding back. He remembered that the first-ever RCCG parish was located on Willoughby Street. Moved by the thought, he decided to stop by and visit the church. When he arrived, he found that the church building, though rich in history, was in need of significant renovation and upgrading. Recognizing its historical importance to the RCCG family, Daddy made a promise: the church facility would be upgraded and restored to reflect the legacy it represents. Today, RCCG Covenant Chapel has been upgraded and restored to reflect it significance among RCCG families. But this one is a thank you…even though we have a long way to go with reconciliation in the Catholic Church, Pope Francis gave the apology for the role the Catholic Church played in perpetuating the horrors against our children. I believe he was sincere. And I was there to document it. Here is the moment when Pope Francis gave the LONG awaited apology in Rome, 2022. I am in the Vatican press room. I was stunned.
