RFK Jr. is not going to ban antidepressants. What he is doing is opening up a conversation that our culture has avoided for far too long. A conversation about informed choice. That means honest discussions around side effects, long term outcomes, and what happens when someone decides they no longer want to take these medications and needs support getting off of them safely. Last week, a video of Ella Emhoff speaking about her experience with antidepressants went viral. She described spending much of her life on these medications while never being given a clear path off of them. Her story resonated with people across the political spectrum because this issue reaches far beyond partisan politics. Many of us grew up believing that the way to feel seen and understood in our pain was through diagnosis and medication. POST OFFICE PUT A CHILD IN PRISON In 2002 Tracy Felstead Tracy Felstead was a 19 year old counter clerk. She worked at the Camberwell Green Post Office branch in south London. She had left school and was proud to have a job with a company everyone trusted. Then the Post Office's Horizon computer system showed a shortfall of £11,503 at her till. Nobody checked if the machine was wrong. Post Office investigators decided Tracy was a thief. She was interviewed under caution at Peckham police station. Investigators asked her to prove she did not steal money that a computer had simply invented. They even asked if her own family had pressured her to steal. Her family scraped together the £11,500 and paid it back. They were told this could help her avoid prison. It did not work. Tracy was convicted of theft and false accounting at trial. The judge sent her to a young offender institution for 6 months. She was still a teenager. Inside, she saw things no 19 year old should see. She has said the memory of prison still comes back to her now, decades later. She has spoken about trying to take her own life twice because of what happened to her. Years later the stress caught up with her body too. She suffered a neurological breakdown that left her temporarily paralysed on one side. Tracy was not alone. Horizon was built and run by Fujitsu Fujitsu UK. Between 2000 and 2014 the Post Office prosecuted more than 700 sub-postmasters and counter staff using data from that same system. It is now officially called the biggest miscarriage of justice in British legal history. Paula Vennells Paula Vennells ran the Post Office as chief executive from 2012 to 2019. Under her watch the organisation spent millions fighting the very people it had wrongly accused, rather than admitting the software was broken. Over 1 million people later signed a petition demanding she hand back her CBE. The Court of Appeal finally quashed Tracy's conviction in 2021. 19 years after she went to prison. Nobody at the Post Office or Fujitsu spent a single night in a cell for it. In 2023 Tracy sat down with Post Office bosses in Parliament, with the support of her then MP Lucy Allan Lucy Allan. She told the chief executive to his face how to fix the compensation process. 🚨🚨 PROOF that Tommy Robinson is in jail for LYING, not "telling the truth" This is one of many examples of Tommy defaming the kid in his documentary, "Silenced." A student at the school (a young girl) tells a story about the boy attacking her with a hockey stick in class. Tommy used this "incident" to attack the kid in question, telling his audience that he has a history of attacking young girls. In Tommy's libel lawsuit, he had to back up the legitimacy of this story and his choice to include it in his videos. He made a fool of himself. The girl in the video testified in court, as well as another boy who testified as a witness. In court, the following was revealed: - The girl claims in the video that she has injuries lasting to this day and has been on medication for the pain ever since. NO medical evidence could be provided to back this up. No doctors' records, no prescription for the medications she claimed to be on, no X ray records (which she claimed to have had). The only record from her doctor during this time says she had "no medical issues." - 30 students were present in this PE class, and a teacher. There were 0 other witnesses of the attack. The girl claimed that no one came to her assistance who could be called as a witness. - There was no report of this incident made by the teacher. There was an example provided of when the girl suffered an injury in class, a report was made, and her mother was contacted. None of this happened for this "attack." - The boy who testified as a witness did not help; he simply contradicted the girl's story. When the lesson took place, how many students were present, among others. This boy also contradicted himself numerous times between his original statement and cross examination, he absolutely could not keep his story straight. - During cross examination, when the boy witness was asked why there were no other witnesses of this "attack," he hilariously said that all of the other 30 students happened to be looking in the opposite direction when the incident happened. - The girl claimed that she developed anxiety issues as a direct result of this incident. When her records from her own doctor and school nurse records show clearly that her anxiety predates the incident. - The girl saw an emotional health worker in the school. Not once did she mention this "attack" to this worker. - The girl claims to have told her mother. Yet, the mother never reported the incident to the school at the time, nor did she report this supposed violent attack to the police. The mother chose not to testify as a witness. Based on all of the above, the judge understandably determined, "For the reasons I have given, the Defendant has failed to prove that the Hockey Stick Incident happened. On the evidence, I am satisfied it did not happen, whether as alleged by Charly Matthews or at all." It is important to note that this libel ruling was in response to two Facebook videos posted by Tommy attacking the kid. He then doubled down showing this ridiculous hockey stick story again in Silenced, repeating his claims. This is one of many examples of Tommy clearly lying and defaming the young boy in his documentary. I know there are many people out there who credit dogs for keeping them going, getting through tough times and even saving their lives. I’ve heard the personal stories from 100s of people. Dogs are so pure and unconditional with their support and love. I can’t explain how much pressure and stress I’ve been under the last year and in particular the last 3-4 months. Tina may no longer be with us but it is because of her that I keep going on this mission. In the dark times I think about her face and her warm cosy fur. I’m not sure but were it not for Tina there are times when I might have broken or had to stop such was the suffering and pain we see. So much is about to come together… 📕 In 43 days the book about Tina will be out. It was a work of pure love. But exhausting too emotionally. 🏥 Tina’s field hospital opens on Tuesday with our new vet starting. Her big hospital is also being built. 🎤 I’m doing about 7-8 events in Ireland and England in May followed by the USA telling Tina’s story to 1000s of people. I’m terrified. 🥘 Her little sibling (in my head) Alba has her own kitchen just open feeding 1250 dogs a day ✂️ We have funded over 20,000 sterilising in 2025 already. That’s just a tiny amount of the things happening. We do them all for the street dogs but I personally do them for Tina. Some dogs (and people) shake you and move you to your very core. They are soul dogs. That is Tina for me. I was exhausted and burnt out tonight with so much to juggle so I sat in bed and opened my Tina folder of videos on my phone. I wanted to sleep but just seeing her face made me want to share a little video and write this. She just makes me want to put more good into the world for all to share. Maybe when I get through the next 2 mad months I dream of sitting on a little quiet beach somewhere on my own reading a book, fully offline and just thinking about Tina. I’ll tell her about all that has happened. I’ve not been able to do that yet. But for now there is one more big push needed in Tina’s name 💛💙
