🚨 Something is deeply wrong with what ICE and DHS are doing right now… and everyone needs to start paying attention now, before it’s too late. DHS is telling people to “self-deport,” but when someone actually tries to self-deport, ICE is locking them in private immigration prisons for months,... even years. ICE has been targeting former DACA recipients, people who historically would not be held long-term, because detention itself has become the objective. A steady pipeline feeding private prisons that are paid per body, per day. This story shows the other side of the same abuse. Tatjana Vesiolko has no criminal record. She holds a valid Lithuanian passport. Her home country accepts deportations. She received a final order of removal months ago. She didn’t fight it. She mailed her passport to ICE. She has repeatedly asked to buy her own plane ticket home. ICE refused. Instead, she has now spent nearly 11 months locked inside a private detention facility with no bond, no timeline, and no clear explanation. DHS vaguely claims the delay may be tied to a class action lawsuit they refuse to name, one she was never told about and never given the chance to opt out. Immigration attorneys say there are no obvious legal barriers preventing her deportation. This is happening as ICE detains more people than at any point since World War II. Ansari: Well, they just murdered two people in a week, so that’s the bare minimum they should do. I think ICE has been this paramilitary force for Donald Trump and Stephen Miller now for well over a year and a half, throughout the entirety of the second Trump presidency. They have fatally shot 11 people. They have locked up tens of thousands in horrific detention centers across this country because they want two private prison companies to make money. I think ICE should be abolished. I think we need to prosecute the people who are carrying out these crimes. This woman walked into this ice cream shop and ordered an ice cream cone. When they handed it to her she told them she couldn’t pay for it. 😳 The employees said she had to pay for it. She didn’t have any money. She asks them if they are going to call the cops. This male customer sitting there chimes in and says if they call the cops he will be a witness. The woman said she told them she wanted it for free but the man said that’s not true. He said he watched her the whole time. She tries to put it down on the countertop but the employee tells her don’t leave it there. So she walks over and throws it in the trash. The witness tells her “this is what entitlement looks like” as she walks out the door. Some people said why not just buy the ice cream for her, to have a heart, because you never know what someone is going through. Others said if she had asked the right way and told them up front she didn’t have any money then maybe they would have purchased it for her but to come in and order and THEN tell them you don’t have any money is just wrong. This wasn’t a steak or a burger or a meal, I could see buying her those things to help someone out that is hungry but an ice cream is not a necessity. No one owes anyone anything. What do you think? And if we don’t stop this escalation, more people are going to die. Kansas enacted the HALO Act, which makes it a crime for people to knowingly get within 25 feet of law enforcement officers performing certain duties. That may sound reasonable on paper. Until you see how ICE agents are weaponizing it. In this video, a public observer drove into an apartment complex parking lot. Once she was inside, ICE agents boxed her in with vehicles, and then began demanding that she move because she was supposedly within 25 feet of them. She tells them she is stuck. She explains she cannot move. The agent ignores her. He tells her to back up… but she tells him there is a vehicle behind her, and she cannot. She is trapped in a situation ICE created. Her options? Attempt to drive through agents and their unmarked vehicles… and risk them claiming she used her vehicle as a weapon. Or stay where she is… and risk being arrested. This is how people get hurt. Law enforcement is supposed to de-escalate situations… not create impossible choices where a U.S. citizen has to choose between an action that could get them arrested… or killed. Whatever word you want to use, what we need to get to is the end result: ICE should not exist as it exists. And DHS should not exist as it exists. There’s no reason for DHS to exist.
