If you could have made the deal two years ago, we would have made the deal. But they weren't willing to do that. Now they are willing to do it. So they're willing to do much more than they would have a year and a half ago or even a year ago when we've heard. Don't forget we've only been doing this for exactly one year. And we've started this with them a few months after the beginning of this term. This term has been amazing. But the results could very, they could surprise people. More/better Hurricane Melissa videos now that the furlough/gov shutdown is over and I can get the go ahead to post revised versions. What was originally posted three weeks ago were quick edits/crops exported in 720p which were good enough but not all that they could be. I will include a link to YT so those inclined can watch in 4K. Today I’m posting thread from pass 5 which was approx 1645-1648Z time. This first one is GoPro Max footage that I finally got around to editing. It starts very similar to the post from a few weeks ago but with a twist. 1/5

This is very concerning - A chicken to go to market used to take a year in America - That number went down to 4 months - It then dropped to 14 weeks, then to 12 weeks 🚨 Today even ‘organically’ raised chickens go to market in 8 weeks, the farmers “signs a contract that he will not try to find out what's in the food” “You know how long we take now for even organically grown chickens to go from the hatched egg to the market? When I first started doing this 15 years ago, I told people how alarming it was that we were getting a chick to market in four months instead of a year. And then it went from 18 weeks to 16 weeks to 14 weeks to 12 weeks. And now I just recently read a report that even organically raised chickens are going to market in 8 weeks. Now, the poultry industry, with the backing of our government and with this backing of legislation, insists that there are no hormones used in the poultry industry. Then how? What accounts for that change? The trick is, in the field, when a modern farmer buys eggs, he buys fertilized eggs and signs a contract to buy the food only from that egg supplier. And these are big multinational companies. He also signs a contract that he will not try to find out what's in the food. And we are not allowed. It's proprietary. I don’t know where to begin, so I’ll start here: my view from one Dragon to another. I don’t have words yet for the whole experience, so a picture will have to do. This was my first attempt at a time-lapse (thank you, Ferry Farhan, for many great tips). Aurora over the South Pacific, Orion rising, satellites in the distance, and my favorite planet, all from a wild new perspective. That Dragon undocked and returned to Earth a few days ago with Crew-10. It was a bittersweet farewell but marked the start of a new chapter in what feels already like a great story.

5 years ago I went to visit Terrence who had spent 20 Christmases on his own. He really struggled with loneliness but started volunteering with Age UK in 2014 and it changed his life. I caught up with Terrence again this week. He is 83 now and still going strong but struggling with his health and dealing with a lot of pain. The good news is, a few weeks ago he got his award for 10 years of service at Age UK🎯 He is spending the 25th December with his friend Andrew this year and wants to wish everyone a great Christmas. Loneliness remains a huge problem for hundreds and thousands of people in the UK. What I learned from Terrence is that if we all looked out for a neighbour who is on their own we have the ability to make a massive difference ❤️🎄

It’s early but the first story of week is already developing. Last week Brandon Berry was 12th alternate. A few days ago he sent me a message asking if other alternates were on site. At that time he was 5th alternate. There were a few, but since he lives in South Florida decide to come, since it’s only an hour flight. He moved all the way to first by this morning. And now he has heard that a player might be sick and he might have a tee time. Making the story that more compelling is how he is in the alternate position. Last year at 2nd to last finals event Berry missed the cut by one. On Friday he accidentally played the wrong ball, resulting in a two stroke penalty. Because of that he finished 76th in points, missing out on retaining his full card by one stroke over the entire season. Had he made the cut he was almost assured of keeping it. Devastating mistake, but now possibly a chance to change that this week. He will get a good amount of starts but a made cut here goes a long way. Also Brandon and his family are great people, it’s easy to cheer for him.

3 years ago today.. ❤️ #EastEnders It's 3 years ago today since George & Cindy's special flashback episode where it was revealed that Cindy Beale wasn't dead all along and was actually living in Marbella with George Anna and Gina under the fake cover name "Rose Knight" 🥀👀 2023 was such a strong year and Cindy's comeback scenes were one of my highlights from that year alongside Lola's brain tumour storyline. The dynamic between Colin Salmon & Michelle Collins was brilliant in these scenes and I love that George and Cindy have remained close friends despite their new relationships with Max and Nicola. ❤️🥺 Did you like Cindy and George together when Cindy first arrived? I always preferred George with Cindy over Elaine but I'm warming to him and Nicola now. I wonder if George will be the shoulder that Cindy cries on once Max's explosive secrets regarding Priya come to light at the wedding in 2 weeks time? 🤔👀

The market hasn’t been great, but I had a good feeling about the trade, and since my trades were working, I wasn’t paying too much attention to the overall market. Two weeks ago we moved our family from California to Tennessee, and today confirmed everything we hoped for. We watched our new community’s Fourth of July parade and ran the neighborhood 5k this morning, and tonight there’s a fireworks show, all without leaving the neighborhood. The kids on our street already pulled our two boys into their bike club. Neighbors met the moving truck and helped unload before we even arrived. We’re buying meat and cheese from a farm fifteen minutes from our house. We came here for the community, and for a place built for raising a family instead of one that seems to punish you for it. We loved California, but every year felt like paying a tax for having kids, wanting safe streets, and trying to run a small business, even with family nearby to help. Today I’m grateful to live in a country where you can pack up and choose a different life, and where the people who live there actually want you to have it. This country is great, and I’ll never stop being grateful for it.

Arthur Mensch confirmed on CNBC this week that OpenAI and Anthropic are calling Mistral asking for compute. The two companies racing to build the most powerful AI in the world are dependent on a European competitor they have been trying to outrun. Let that land for a second. The narrative you have been sold is that the US is running away with AI. That OpenAI and Anthropic have such a commanding lead that the rest of the world is playing catch-up. That narrative is missing something physical. The International Energy Agency projected this year that US data center electricity demand will double by 2030. The US grid is already at capacity. Europe has the power. Europe has the land. And right now the company fielding calls from the most funded AI labs on earth is a four-year-old French startup. Mensch said Mistral is prioritizing its own customers first. The surge in agentic usage is generating far more tokens than anyone planned for and existing capacity is spoken for. The US labs are in the queue. But they are in the queue. Most people following AI are watching benchmark scores and funding rounds. The actual constraint right now is electricity and physical space. Time has taken its toll on this old lone wolf who has wandered our area by himself for the past 3 years (footage from this past winter). He looks battered and weather from an intense and rugged lifestyle. Aside from just being old, the wolf has a significant limp because he is missing his two front right toes. You can see this in the first sequence well.We don’t know how that injury happened. How a wolf in this condition survives year after year is certainly intriguing. In particular, how he keeps himself fed is fascinating because it is hard to imagine him chasing down deer by himself but possible he is capable of it. We suspect he is likely an expert scavenger, finding morsels of food here and there, but can a wolf like this persist just by scavenging all year? Time has taken its toll on this old lone wolf who has wandered our area by himself for the past 3 years (footage from this past winter). He looks battered and weather from an intense and rugged lifestyle. Aside from just being old, the wolf has a significant limp because he is missing his two front right toes. You can see this in the first sequence well.We don’t know how that injury happened. How a wolf in this condition survives year after year is certainly intriguing. In particular, how he keeps himself fed is fascinating because it is hard to imagine him chasing down deer by himself but possible he is capable of it. We suspect he is likely an expert scavenger, finding morsels of food here and there, but can a wolf like this persist just by scavenging all year? Michael Reagan died a few weeks ago, shortly after the New Year was rung in. He was 80. When I learned of his passing, I went back and watched the conversation we’d had a few years earlier on the podcast. This occurred during the lockdowns, which means I didn’t have the pleasure of his company in person, but I nevertheless enjoyed every moment we spent, chatting about the lessons he’s learned from his famous father while growing up in Beverly Hills. I’m glad our paths crossed, albeit virtually. Here's a short clip from our conversation that gives some insight on what it was like to grow up with Ronald Reagan as your father. I admire the respect Michael had for his dad, and for the many ways he protected and preserved his legacy. I also enjoyed his book, Lessons My Father Taught Me, which more than lives up to its title.

In 1976, a Soviet singer was told the lyrics to his new song were too politically risky to broadcast. The words were about an American cowboy riding across a prairie while his sweetheart named Mary knitted stockings for him. During the Cold War, that kind of sentimental view of America would never get past the censors. So Eduard Khil and composer Arkady Ostrovsky made a decision: sing the whole thing without any words at all. Khil performed it on Soviet television in a brown double breasted suit, grinning the entire time, belting out nothing but “la la la” and “trololo” while strolling and gesturing dramatically. It aired, people enjoyed it, and that was that. Khil went on to become one of the most celebrated singers in the Soviet Union, awarded “People’s Artist of the USSR” in 1974 and known across the country. When the Soviet Union collapsed his career faded and he ended up singing cabaret in a cafe in Paris. In 2010, someone uploaded that 1976 clip to YouTube. It exploded. Millions of views in weeks. Khil had no idea until his 13 year old grandson told him “Grandpa, everyone knows your song on the internet, all around the world.” His son said his father thought someone was making fun of him. He kept asking “Where were all these journalists 40 years ago?” But he embraced it, adopted Mr. Trololo as a stage name, and performed the song live again on Russian television on New Year’s Eve 2011. He passed away in June 2012 at 77 after a stroke. In 2017, Google honoured him with an interactive doodle on what would have been his 83rd birthday.
