Businessmen Disrupt Council Meeting, Make Corruption Allegations Against ANC-Run Municipality Leaders A group of Muslim businessmen allegedly disrupted a council meeting in an ANC-run municipality, confronting Mayor Mzi Thebolla, known as "Big Show", and Deputy Mayor Mxolisi Mkhize, known as "Jackie China", with allegations of corruption and preferential treatment. According to witnesses, the businessmen, led by a man identified as Mohammed, entered the meeting and accused the mayor and deputy mayor of receiving monthly payments exceeding R500,000 each in exchange for assistance with municipal water and electricity debts. The businessmen also claimed that shop owners operating on Pietermaritz Street make monthly payments to municipal leaders through an intermediary, allegedly in exchange for exemptions from paying municipal water and electricity charges. They further alleged that the mayor's bodyguard is responsible for collecting the money. In addition, the group alleged that certain businessmen pay as much as R5 million for protection. The allegations have not been independently verified, and no evidence has been publicly presented to substantiate the claims. The municipality has not yet issued an official response to the accusations

In a lawsuit, former AHS CEO Athana Mentzelopoulos alleges that Premier Smith’s chief of staff, Marshall Smith, pressured her to favor companies tied to Sam Mraiche — a relative of Justice Minister Mickey Amery. Marshall Smith denies the claims as defamatory, but records show he lived in a $1.6-million home owned by Mraiche’s sister. The RCMP has launched an investigation following the lawsuit filed by the former AHS CEO. In 2022, during a medication shortage, the Smith government announced it had secured 5 million units of children’s pain medication from Turkish pharmaceutical company Atabay. But that wasn’t the full story. Behind the scenes, a middleman — Edmonton-based MHCare Medical owned by Sam Mraiche — was awarded a $70 million sole-sourced contract, paid upfront, to import the medication. Firms associated with Sam Mraiche have reportedly received approximately $614 million in contracts from the Alberta government, including a $228 million sole-sourced PPE contract awarded under Premier Jason Kenney’s government. The RCMP has launched an investigation following the lawsuit filed by the former AHS CEO. In 2022, during a medication shortage, the Smith government announced it had secured 5 million units of children’s pain medication from Turkish pharmaceutical company Atabay. But that wasn’t the full story. Behind the scenes, a middleman — Edmonton-based MHCare Medical owned by Sam Mraiche — was awarded a $70 million sole-sourced contract, paid upfront, to import the medication. Firms associated with Sam Mraiche have reportedly received approximately $614 million in contracts from the Alberta government, including a $228 million sole-sourced PPE contract awarded under Premier Jason Kenney’s government. Laying very serious allegations have become a common trait to attract millions of views without recourse to the damaging effects on the people involved. Knowing that there could be evasion of consequences because they can easily prey on the emotions of Nigerians encourages this deviant behavior. This case and many others has now clearly justified the urgent need for the social media bill in the national assembly. You can’t lie to make money and turn around to apologize after criminally defaming and hurting people. It is time for social media companies to be mandated to open offices in Nigeria and to take responsibility for what they allow on their platforms. If landlords are being threatened with punishments for actions of their tenants who are yahoo boys, what stops social media companies from being held responsible for allowing defamatory contents in their platforms. All our local media houses comply with laws concerning defamation. Why make an exception for foreign companies who don’t pay taxes and ultimately avoid all manner of liabilities because of the absence of regulations. We must effectively be able to apply regulations or there is no end to this. It’s Senator Ned today, who knows who is next? Please support my bill on the regulation of social media companies which simply seeks to get them to register in Nigeria and open their offices here. London Mayor Sadiq Khan and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer have blood on their hands. Both men willfully enabled the mass rape and sexual torture of British white girls by gangs of Muslim men, and we have proof. Khan, when he was first asked publicly about these allegations, said that it was fake and that they were false allegations. And he turned it around and blamed the victims and falsely accused them of being politically motivated. Khan read these files yet continued to deny the existence of grooming gangs in public.” Unconscionable. Also in the report, Keir Starmer allowed these rapists and pedophiles to keep raping. "While Sir Keir Starmer was the Director of Public Prosecutions, it has been reported that 13,000 suspected rape gang members and paedophiles were let off with warning letters." As a nation that has suffered deeply from Saddam’s chemical attacks during the 1980–1988 war on our people, Iran carries enduring wounds that still affect tens of thousands of victims and their families. During the Conference, I was accompanied by Mr. Kamal Hoseinpur, MP from Sardasht—a city that stands as a global symbol of resistance, suffering, and the call for justice. The people of Sardasht endured chemical attacks whose consequences continue even today, made worse by unjust U.S. sanctions that restrict access to vital medicines and medical care. The truth must prevail, and those who supported Saddam’s chemical weapons program must be held responsible. We urge Germany to release the results of its past investigations and commit to full and ransparent investigations about the involvement of its companies and nationals in enabling Saddam’s atrocities. The judicial investigations by Dutch authorities which led to the prosecution and conviction of one Dutch individual is appreciated.
