And when you see people mocking whistleblowers and telling them they should just throw all caution to the wind, come forward, and share all that they know? Ignore them. And stop engaging with bullshit like that.) ~ Garry P. Nolan: "I want to address one point that you raised there about the NDA. DLA Piper, a very well-respected legal firm, issued a legal opinion, if you will, where, basically, had a lot of stuff about what the thing was. But the key line in the in the document was: we think you should await further guidance because the current order from on high is insufficient to protect you, more or less. I'm paraphrasing. Nolan: "Another lawyer friend of mine sent me a very long list, basically, repeating some of the holes that are in the so-called [NDA] waiver that still put people at risk. And, you know, there are, unfortunately, documented retributions from the government on whistleblowers who have come forward, and that sets a very cold tone. "And so, AARO and ODNI have to overcome that somehow, with a kind of legal force that will make the lawyers of the whistleblowers feel comfortable to tell their clients, come forward. Because every time that I've made an emotional choice of what I want to do, based on a legal opinion - they say, 'You shouldn't do this.' I said, 'Well, I'm going to do this anyway.' - I was wrong, and I paid for it. So listen to your lawyers." Peter Skafish - Peter Skafish: "Well, and yeah, and we should say, I don't think anyone here believes that that would be without legal risk. My own conversations with retired intelligence community officials, one of one of whom is a was a major oversight official, indicate that even if this has full backing from the President, it's very standard for an intelligence agency to send that kind of memo to their office of general counsel. And the office of general counsel will immediately say, 'Okay, the information that's wanted here is exempt, and for the following seven reasons, and no one should send information up the chain at all.' It's not even a question of talk to us first. It's just, we're not going to comply with this until we receive further instructions.
