๐Ÿˆ ๐Ÿ”ฅ WATCH all the way through the end of this video to see spirited high school football players at South County High School exercise their civic duty to speak up for celebrated football coach Gerry Pannoni, who just lost his coaching job in a case of alleged retaliation in Fairfax County Public Schools. Whatโ€™s more: FCPS allegedly shut down the South County football program and let go ALL of the coaches until a new coach is named and removed access to coach access to Hudl, a video platform, hurting students who are being recruited by colleges. In June 2024, I began reporting a local high school story for the Fairfax County Times Pearl Project with sports reporter G, and it became Virginiaโ€™s biggest youth sports scandal: controversial recruiting practices at Hayfield Secondary School in Fairfax County Virginia that led to a wider community reckoning on the issue of integrity in sports and calls for the resignation of fcpssupt Michelle Reid for her mishandling of the case. Today, at South County High School in Lorton, Va., about 300 football players, athletes and students streamed out of Door No. 1 at 2 PM to march on Laurel Crest Drive, shouting, โ€œReinstate Coach P.โ€ Last year, Pannoni and other coaches raised red flags about alleged recruitment problems at Hayfield, and the school district official told coach Pannoni on Friday that he had lost his job. Parents and coaches say they are hearing that Reid is allegedly planning to retaliate against all the coaches for embarrassing her. FCPS denies the charge. FCPS sent a media relations officer to follow the march. He sat in the back of an FCPS security cruiser. FCPS Superintendent Reid investigated Pannoni for an audio tape with parents, indelicately describing the Hayfield recruiting as akin to โ€œgrooming.โ€ We have learned that the principal had allegedly told Pannoni that students didnโ€™t feel โ€œsafeโ€around the coach. The students I interviewed reveal a different story: speaking about Pannoniโ€™s positive impact on their lives. โ€œWe love Coach Pannoni,โ€ said many a student. This story speaks to wider issues about transparency, accountability, and integrity in both governance and school districts. Today, high school students spoke out when the issue touched their lives very personally, speaking up with clarity for a coach they respect. At the end, you will hear some students ask me who I am and I softly introduce myself with the Fairfax County Times. One calls us heroes for documenting this story and investigating its details. We are not heroes, but the story speaks to the heroic mission of local journalism in bringing truth to communities, from South County High School to beyond. We couldnโ€™t report it without brave whistleblowers. Read all of our coverage here:

Not all birthdays are measured by candles and celebrations โ€” some are measured by the lives touched, the smiles shared, and the love given to others. To celebrate the birthday of our dearest Momshie Heidi, KimPau International (KPI) turned this special occasion into a meaningful celebration of giving back. Inspired by the generosity and genuine kindness of Kim and Paulo, KPI chose to spread love beyond the fandom and into the lives of others. KPI visited Bahay Aruga in Paco, Manila โ€” a temporary home for children battling cancer and other chronic illnesses while receiving treatment at PGH โ€” where food, groceries, and cash assistance were shared with the children and their carers. At the same time, KPI also extended support to 40 students and community of San Isidro Chapel in Dobdob, Badian, Cebu through the donation of school supplies, hoping to inspire and help children continue pursuing their dreams through education. More than the donations, it was the smiles, warmth, and hope shared during these simple acts of kindness that made the celebration truly unforgettable. Moments like these remind us that even the smallest act of love can brighten someoneโ€™s life. Momshie Heidi, thank you for continuously inspiring the community with your loving heart and selfless spirit. May your birthday be filled with the same happiness and light that you generously share with others every day. Happy Birthday, Momshie Heidi! Heidi KPI ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Special thanks as well to all the generous sponsors, volunteers, and Team Live for helping make this meaningful celebration possible. Your kindness and support allowed us to touch more lives and spread more love on this very special day. #KPI #HappyBirthdayMomshieHeidi #BahayAruga #SanIsidroChapel #KimPau #SpreadKindness #CharityWithLove #LoveInAction

This movement spread across the entire Balochistan. People came out of their homes, and from every corner of Balochistan, from every political platform, organization, and group men, women, and children became part of this movement. Following large-scale gatherings in various regions of Balochistan, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) announced a grand national gathering โ€œBaloch Raaji Muchiโ€ to be held in Gwadar on July 28. The announcement came after widespread mobilizations across the region. From Karachi to the farthest corners of Balochistan, as preparations for the mass gathering progressed and the Baloch Yakjehti Committee began its journey to Gwadar, the state initiated crackdowns of various kinds. Roads were blocked, gunfire was opened, enforced disappearances took place, and repression began at every level. Fear and anxiety loomed everywhere, and Balochistan was effectively sealed and shut down. Despite all these obstacles, after great struggle, when we finally reached Gwadar, the city was under a curfew-like situation. From Quetta, Karachi, Turbat, Panjgur, to Nushki โ€” security forces had sealed every route to prevent thousands, even hundreds of thousands, of people from reaching the site of the Baloch national gathering. On July 28 the day of Baloch Raaji Muchi was to take place, every street and alley of Gwadar was filled with checkpoints set up by security forces. Mobile networks were completely shut down. Yet, despite this climate of fear, the people of Gwadar were present at the gathering site. That very day, around 1 PM, vehicles of the forces approached the gathering and, opened direct fire. One of our comrade was martyred before our eyes. #BalochNationalGathering

Todayโ€™s news about rape in Jajpur, gangrape in Jagatsinghpur and Malkangiri and sexual assault in Puri โ€ฆ deeply saddens and horrifies all of us. A disturbing wave of crimes against women is gripping Odisha. Both in cities and villages, the streets have become increasingly unsafe for women--in broad daylight and night. A young student heading to school or college or returning from tutorial classes cannot be sure of her safety. Danger now lurks in everyday normal places. This surge in sexual assaults reflects a troubling erosion of law enforcement. When the various ranks of the police face interference and political pressure, accountability weakens--and women and girls pay the price first. Adding to this concern, the US Government last month issued a Level 2 travel advisory that listed Odisha among six Indian states where American employees must seek special approval to travel beyond capital cities. While the state has seen a decline in Maoist activity and there is minimal terrorism, this inclusion likely reflects concerns over rising crimes against women. The July 17 directive by Ravenshaw University in Cuttack--banning women from staying on campus beyond 5:30 PM--further exposed the crisis. Though it was withdrawn after public outrage, the order revealed a mindset that seeks to restrict women instead of making public spaces safer for them. It punished women instead of targeting the real problem. Without urgent and decisive police action and political will backing it, this problem will only grow. The political leadership must realise that allowing interference of local party leaders in police stations will only normalise violence across the state especially gender-based violence. The state BJP government must act immediately to restore safety and rebuild womenโ€™s trust in the system sworn to protect them. BJD will continue to raise its voice for the protection of our mothers and sisters in every forum.

The award winning playwright for The Little Red Warrior and His Lawyer, Kevin Loring, has released a statement following the viral incident at Reginaโ€™s Globe Theatre where several schools walked out of the student matinee when the production featured an unexpected drag queen pole dance. โ€œIt's been quite a week for Little Red Warrior and His Lawyer team and the Globe Theatre in Regina. There have been a lot of lies and disinformation being spread in the media about the show. For context, there was a school matinee this week where in the middle of the show some of the schools in attendance felt that the material was "too adult" for their students and opted to leave. They were provided every opportunity to read the play as it is published, and a script was offered for them to read. Also an email was sent to each school outlining the nature of the work and the content in it. Despite this, the show became too much for the teachers and they opted to leave with their students. Which is fine. I understand that the school that stayed, enjoyed the work very much. However, someone from the audience took a video of the performance and posted it online accompanied with lies about the nature of the performance and with embellishments about the conduct of the actors. Since then, right wing media from around the world has taken it up and spread lies and disinformation about the play. All of them targeting the artist playing Lizzy, The Queen for their disparagement and disinformation. Based on the nature of the remarks and criticism it is clear that none of the "journalists" read the play or have seen the work. In fact The National Post published an opinion piece about the play by Jamie Sarkonak where she states. "I haven't seen the play, but I don't have to." Because of course. However her description of Lizzy- "... where a drag queen plays a gyrating, rump thrusting, boob-jiggling version of Queen Elizabeth II in an underbust corset." might make into my pitch package when I try to sell more productions of the show down the road. These articles, mostly from the right wing media, have of course caused a flood of online hate and disinformation directed towards the artist from across the country and around the world. Many articles make it seem as though the scene is their doing rather than the product of a creative process lead by me. The schools were informed ahead of time of the content and at no time do any of the actors do anything to any members of the audience, other than make them laugh and hopefully think. Satire is meant to be tough, and funny. This play, I dare say, is both. I stand by the work. I stand shoulder to shoulder with the brave artists who are killing it everyday on those boards. I am so proud of them and I am proud of this production. I am grateful for the Leadership of The Globe Theatre for their support during this controversy. Sometimes theatre challenges and challenging theatre needs leadership to stand their ground in the face of backlash. Audiences continue to enjoy the work. Sales are good. However we have had to put security measures in place for the artists and have cancelled the upcoming student matinee that was previously scheduled for next week. If those students want to see the show they will now have to pay full price for a ticket instead of the discounted school rate. If you know any of the artists in the show please send them your love. Especially our brave Queen. We are all wrapping our arms around them right now. Be brave. humleth shnookshnookwas Kwookstayup Kโ€

Snapple Facts 1. Never recruited by Ohio State. 2. I was so confident in my ability as a player that I called OSU up and told them I was committing to their school without an offer. They didnโ€™t say yes or no. Tressel laughed and was like โ€ฆ โ€œI guessโ€. 3. The whole โ€œgraduate in Januaryโ€ from high school started from me trying to graduate my junior year. I had so much success my junior year that I said I didnโ€™t want to return my senior year and that I wanted to go to college. I couldnโ€™t graduate because I didnโ€™t have all of my English credits. I took my senior English class in the summer of my junior year and that positioned me to leave after senior year of football. Once I knew I was good I was on a mission to get to college because Youngstown was so wild. 4. I was 4th on the depth chart up until 2 weeks before the season. I played a lot of special teams and scout team. Scout team was how I got better. I never knew that our defense would be #1 in the country that year. I had an entire spring/fall practicing against them. Thatโ€™s what ultimately made me better. Scout team reps are gold to a wise man and trash to a player with an ego. Reps get you betterโ€ฆ doesnโ€™t matter if itโ€™s scout team or with the ones. You need reps to gain experience and wisdom. 5. I talk passionately about player compensation because me not being able to afford a transmission for my car ultimately altered my collegiate experience. I helped generate 10โ€™s of millions of dollars to a college in many ways but couldnโ€™t pay $2k to get a car fixed to get back and forth to school. That sent me searching for alternatives. When you generate that much money you shouldnโ€™t be in a position to have to search alternative waysโ€ฆ. Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m happy for NIL but we still have a long way to go with distribution of revenue in the collegiate space. 6. Football was and still is a means to an end for a lot of us players. Listen to the words I say in the beginning of the video. I donโ€™t say โ€œI love footballโ€. I say โ€œI love hard work and I happen to be good at footballโ€. At the core of it I love progress and I have work ethic. Whatever vehicle is going to help me achieve my dreams Iโ€™m rolling with it.

From UP Diliman to MAPUA Laguna, and all the way to Cagayan de Oro Cityโ€”Xavier University, Limketkai Mall, and the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippinesโ€”we listened to voices willing to pause, reflect, and feel. We asked them questions starting with, โ€œIf you were Savannahโ€™s friendโ€ฆโ€ Because when someone you care about is caught between two kinds of love, giving advice is no longer casualโ€”it becomes a responsibility. Savannah stands at the edge of two worlds: one shaped by calm and certainty, the other by speed, thrill, and unpredictability. Does Victorโ€™s quiet, steady presence deserve her heart? Or does Savannah deserve a love that makes her feel fiercely, overwhelmingly alive? In every answer we heard, there was pause, honesty, and the kind of truth that only surfaces when you imagine your friendโ€™s heart on the line. This series invites us to look at love from the outsideโ€”when it is no longer about what excites you, but about what will not break someone you love. Through these conversations, Savannah slowly stopped being just a character on screen. She became a reflection of the people we care for, the choices weโ€™ve witnessed, and the moments when love demanded wisdom more than passion. Because love looks different when you are not the one choosing. As a friend, you stop asking what feels thrilling, and start asking what will keep her whole. And in those raw, unfiltered answers, Savannahโ€™s story turned into a mirror of our own experiencesโ€”our past loves, our quiet regrets, and the advice we wish we had listened to sooner. In that space, she was no longer just a character. She became someone we wanted to protect, understand, and guide. This fan project was made possible by our dearest ninang Greenwich Pizza, whose support has been felt from the very beginning. From day one to every shoot day that followed, they continued to show up, stand with us, and believe in what we are creatingโ€”for WillCa, for WillCatchers, and for the stories that deserve to be told. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ• And this journey does not end here. Watch out for the upcoming episodes of our video seriesโ€”because there are still more stories, more truths, and more conversations about love waiting to be heard. Love You So Bad. Breaking: Columbia professor Bruce Robbins reveals new details about Columbia's attempt to try to unprofessor him, to "thrown to the lions" in a new interview with Middle East Eye: Bruce Robbins: "Students brought charges against me last spring, basically because I invited my class to visit the encampment on April 22ndโ€ฆthe circumstances were quite special because the class I was teaching was a class on atrocity about which I've written a bookโ€ฆwith Stanford University Press called Atrocityโ€ฆ anywayโ€ฆ From the beginning of the of the semester I had put on the syllabus that the last week would be a discussion of atrocity with reference to Gaza I had said that the readings were to be announced TBA & I invited everyone in the class to suggest readings that they thought would be useful for their classmates to read about atrocity as a concept relevant to Gaza since October 7th 2023 I didn't of course know there were there was going to be an encampment and then suddenly there was and on the day when we were supposed to talk about atrocity in Gaza so I said to my class look, under the circumstances it would seem absurd for us not to visit this demonstration which has been put on by your fellow students against atrocity in Gaza when atrocity in Gaza is on our syllabus, but if anybody is uncomfortable I said you should absolutely not feel that you have to come to this class. There will be no consequences uh for you not coming to this class but anybody who wants to go I think it's a very rare historic opportunity for us to take the subject on our syllabus to the encampment which is a few steps away. So, I don't know, maybe half the class came with me maybe a little more... Two students who are anonymous to shield them from retaliation brought charges is that I had interfered with their equal opportunity to get an education by inviting the class to the encampment and those charges are still pending. And with everything that's happening on the Colombia campus I had went through two hearings I brought a lawyer they asked me all kinds of questions I know that they interviewed for hours students from my class um I'm waiting to hear whether I will be another person thrown to the lions as it were where they can say โ€ฆhe took his students to the encampment and we are going to punish him for this somehow i have no idea i'm I am awaiting judgment as we speak.โ€ Mohamed Hashem : โ€œIs this the first day you're speaking about this professor?โ€ Bruce Robbins: โ€œWell I mean you mean in public yeah publiclyโ€ฆyeah I suppose I haven't that's true.โ€ Professor Robbins should win a teaching award for this. Instead, he's being treated like a criminal. Columbia University is toxic. What an absolute disgrace of an institution. Full interview here:
