My Hermes Install Step by Step: 1. Install Ubuntu Linux on a machine – Once installed make sure you have the latest updates 2. Install both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browser and log in to your accounts to synch bookmarks/favorites 3. Set up an Ollama account at – I have the annual Pro Plan (if I can ever come up with the funds I will probably spring for the Max plan but Pro is simply awesome) 4. Install Ollama and then run “ollama run glm-5.1:cloud” – It will then have you authenticate to your account and add your machine 5. Install Hermes (watch my video for explanation around this as you may get interrupted during install) 6. Once Hermes is installed you will be prompted to configure. I chose the default quick configure. For model provider select Ollama, provide your Ollama API key, then for model choose desired model. At this point in time I recommend glm-5.1 7. Download Obsidian as your Hermes second brain, set up a vault then tell Hermes to integrate it and provide Hermes the vault location 8. Start building and have fun!

i built a full game on a single GPU with a 3B model and this is the worst local AI will ever be. this was supposed to be a benchmark test. load the model, measure tokens per second, write it up, move on. instead i spent 20 minutes playing Octopus Invaders because the game is genuinely fun and i couldn't stop. a model with 3B active parameters built this from a single prompt. it debugged its own collision system when bullets were phasing through enemies. read the error, found the fix, kept building. this is not a frontier API. this is a quantized open source model running on hardware you can buy used for $800-$1200. no cloud. no subscription. no API costs. just a mass produced consumer GPU doing things that would have been absurd 12 months ago. and here's the part that should keep you up at night: every month the models get smaller and smarter. the quants get tighter. the context windows get longer. the tooling gets cleaner. what 3B active parameters does today on 24gb, a 1B model will do on 8gb within a year. you are looking at the floor. not the ceiling.

Without this, bots start attacking your server within seconds of it going live. 3) Harden the server SSH keys only. Firewall. Intrusion prevention. Auto security updates. You pick your model provider, connect Telegram via BotFather, and configure hooks that give your agent long-term memory.
