Hereโ€™s my review after reading the Gospel of Thomas ๐Ÿ˜Š Background: Gospel of Thomas is one of the books found by farmers in old clay jars in Egypt in 1945. When the ancient Coptic writing style was compared to writing styles over the years, experts determined the book was likely written between the years 100 and 200 CE. Over the centuries, ancient Christians had quoted Gospel of Thomas here and there, but a full copy of the book had been lost until the 1945 discovery. The book is said to have been written by Doubting Thomas, the disciple of Jesus. Of course the copy found in Egypt was likely translated from Thomasโ€™ original writing some years after he wrote it. After reading it myself, I was shocked to find how very many of the sayings are in the Bible. It is a book of parables only, not the full story of Jesus. Some of the parables in Thomas are not in the Bible. Iโ€™ve heard from Christians who are scared to read something about Jesus thatโ€™s not in the Bible. When I hear that, I always think of the last verse of the Book of John which says: โ€œAnd there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.โ€ So John makes clear that Jesusโ€™ whole story is not in the Bible. How delightful, after telling God Iโ€™d love to learn more of Jesusโ€™ story, that I come across these sayings.๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ Whatโ€™s your take?

โ€œThe church no more gave us the New Testament canon than Sir Isaac Newton gave us the force of gravityโ€ฆ Newton did not create gravity but recognized itโ€ - J.I Packer (As cited in Kenneth J. Collins and Jerry L. Walls, Roman but not Catholic: what remains at stake 500 years after the Reformation (Grand Rapids: Baker Academic, 2017), 21). By the time the church was having discussions of canon lists and what books did or didnโ€™t possess the mark of inspiration. The books of inspired scripture had already been written, read, copied, passed around, and disseminated for some time. Paul is already being recognized as scripture within the 1st century by Peter in 2 Pet. 3:16, and Paul himself is quoting Luke as scriptural alongside Deuteronomy in 1 Timothy 5. And letโ€™s not forget that the Christians in the first century had a Bible: we call it the Old Testament. When Paul says โ€œall scripture is God breathedโ€ in 2 Timothy, no one is confused about what Paul means when he uses the term โ€œscripture.โ€ Just because books existed as independent documents in the form of physical scrolls and books separate from one another prior to the fourth century with them being codified all in one single unit then, doesnโ€™t mean that they werenโ€™t the Bible prior to that point. We need to be careful not to read back an anachronistic perspective due to our modern privilege of being able to easily have all the biblical books in a single-bound-volume. This is largely due to the amazing and streamlined process of publishing today.

โญ•The End of the false Dilemma The Quran "The last preserved revelation" dominant over The Torah and Gospel 5:48. And We revealed to you the Book, with the truth, confirming the Book that preceded it and superseding it.. The False Claim "Fake Dilemma" : Christianity or "Constantinity" Claim that Quran confirmed the Bible, while The Bible is a collection of books written by around 40 different authors, composed over approximately 1,500 years, It's a man made history book mixed between the truth and falsehood, it's not the Torah or Gospel (Muslim's can easily show many of contradictions in bible) There is no book called the โ€˜Bibleโ€™ mentioned in the Quran, but The Quran confirms that some of the People of the Book know the truth but conceal its signs and verses, and this was proved to be true by many scripture scholers that converted to Islam like: Samawโ€™al ibn Yahya; A former Jewish rabbi who embraced Islam, And His famous book: โ€œSilencing the Jewsโ€ The first Bible "Codex Sinaiticus" is a book that was compiled in Greek about five years after the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. Christians theologians confirm that the Gospel should be in Aramaic, and the Bible contains Ugly Greek phrases, which indecat to a bad translation from Aramaic to Greek "I attached a video about it, soon I will make separate tread about Ugly Greek in the Bible, God's willing" The current bible was โ€˜pick-and-chooseโ€™ process. They rejected any writings that directly denied the divinity of Christ, such as the Arian writings and the Gospel of Thomas "essentially rejecting several early gospels" and most of these books and manuscripts were burned, by Constantine forces, that's why it's impossible to find a carbon dated manuscript from the first century. Question : Where is the true Gospel of Jesus that contains Godโ€™s direct revelation, where's the original scripture? A: This Question should be directed to Christians and Jews, not Muslims, and even if they found it, the Quran dominant over it Question : Where does it say in the Quran that the Gospel and Torah were corrupted? A: About the corruption and distortion of the scriptures, Here's the verses : Quran 2:75 Do you covet [the hope, O believers], that they would believe for you while a party of them used to hear the words of Allah and then distort the Torah after they had understood it while they were knowing? Quran 2:79 So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn. Quran 2:159 Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture - those are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse, Quran 2:174 Indeed, they who conceal what Allah has sent down of the Book and exchange it for a small price - those consume not into their bellies except the Fire. And Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them. And they will have a painful punishment. Quran 3:78 And indeed, there is among them a party who alter the Scripture with their tongues so you may think it is from the Scripture, but it is not from the Scripture. And they say, "This is from Allah," but it is not from Allah. And they speak untruth about Allah while they know. Quran 3:187 And [mention, O Muhammad], when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture, [saying], "You must make it clear to the people and not conceal it." But they threw it away behind their backs and exchanged it for a small price. And wretched is that which they purchased. Quran 4:46 Among the Jews are those who distort words from their [proper] usages and say, "We hear and disobey" and "Hear but be not heard" and "Ra'ina," twisting their tongues and defaming the religion. And if they had said [instead], "We hear and obey" and "Wait for us [to understand]," it would have been better for them and more suitable. But Allah has cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe not, except for a few. Quran 5:13 So for their breaking of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard. They distort words from their [proper] usages and have forgotten a portion of that of which they were reminded. And you will still observe deceit among them, except a few of them. But pardon them and overlook [their misdeeds]. Indeed, Allah loves the doers of good. Quran 5:14 And from those who say, "We are Christians" We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of that of which they were reminded. So We caused among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. And Allah is going to inform them about what they used to do. Quran 6:91 And they did not appraise Allah with true appraisal when they said, "Allah did not reveal to a human being anything." Say, "Who revealed the Scripture that Moses brought as light and guidance to the people? You [Jews] make it into pages, disclosing [some of] it and concealing much. And you were taught that which you knew not - neither you nor your fathers." Say, "Allah [revealed it]." Then leave them in their [empty] discourse, amusing themselves. Quran 7:162 But those who wronged among them changed [the words] to a statement other than that which had been said to them. So We sent upon them a punishment from the sky for the wrong that they were doing. Quran 16:118 And to those who are Jews We have prohibited that which We related to you before. And We did not wrong them [thereby], but they were wronging themselves. Quran 2:101 And when a messenger from Allah came to them confirming that which was with them, a party of those who had been given the Scripture threw the Scripture of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know [what it contained].

This masterful clip from Mark A. Garcia is a MUST WATCH for all Protestants who engage with Roman Catholics. โ€œRoman Catholic is not ever to be confused with old, or patristic, or medieval, or even pre-Reformational. We need to be very careful to avoid falling prey to that mindset which suggests Roman Catholic is everything up to the Reformation, and Protestant is everything from the Reformation forward. That, in fact, gives away the whole argument to Roman Catholics in the very context at issue of the Reformation and post-Reformation assemblies, who really is teaching, professing, believing, and worshipping in terms of the one faith, one holy catholic and apostolic church, the one faith given through scripture to the church. Roman Catholicism, technically speaking, is an innovation which takes its historic point ofdeparture at the Council of Trent. Not until the 1540s and following, at the Council of Trent, when the church represented in that assembly definitively and publicly ruled out of its communion what we now, as a result, call Protestant churches, not until they had taken this ecclesiastical action, public and objective action, to rule out of the visible church, those we now call Protestants, was there even such a thing inmeaningful terms as a Roman Catholic Church? As a result of that action, you see, they not only created Protestantism as a side, as a byproduct, as a consequence of that action, theyalso created themselves as the Roman Catholic Church.โ€ Credits: Greystone Theological Institute - Rescuing Mary From Rome

๐Ÿ“œโœจ NEW SONG: โ€œBefore the Ink Was Dryโ€ โ€” The Church didnโ€™t come from the Bible. The Bible came from the Church. Jesus didnโ€™t spend His ministry telling people to sit down and start writing. He didnโ€™t say, โ€œWrite this in remembrance of me.โ€ He said, โ€œDo this.โ€ He baptized. He broke bread. He forgave sins. He gave authority. And He built a Church that could teach, bind and loose, forgive sins, appoint bishops, priests, and deacons โ€” and even gather in councils to make binding decisions โ€” long before a single letter of the New Testament was written. In fact, the only thing Jesus ever wrote, God let blow away in the sand. That wasnโ€™t an accident. That was the plan. Scripture is inspired. Scripture is authoritative. But Scripture was received, not self-generated. The Church didnโ€™t come from the Bible. The Bible came from the Church โ€” before the ink was ever dry. ๐ŸŽถ โ€œBefore the Ink Was Dryโ€ is a song about authority before paper, proclamation before publication, and a faith that was lived, taught, and guarded before it was ever bound. ๐Ÿ”— FOLLOW & LISTEN ๐ŸŒ Website: ๐• X: ๐Ÿ“ธ Instagram: ๐ŸŽต TikTok: ๐Ÿ“˜ Facebook: ๐ŸŽง Listen on all platforms: Apple Music: Spotify: โ˜• Support the project: Just a reminder: Iโ€™m not a professional musician โ€” Iโ€™m a catechist trying to teach the faith with the tools available.
