The Web3 version is launching in the first week of March. Basically, you just need to sell items and collect Red Diamonds. Gather Items -> Farm Dungeons, Guild Bosses, and World Bosses for crafting materials and collection items. If you are lucky enough to get a direct drop of tradable Epic Gear, list it on the marketplace immediately. Play from day one. There will be many competitive players buying everything they can to push their character rankings. Always be early if possible, play from minute one! If you want more help and tips, join my guild below.

** SEGA GENESIS / MEGADRIVE Software Scaling + Rotation *** Sega Megadrive can't scale backgrounds and rotate sprites in software at the same time ?? - hold my beer !! After Scaling I've been tinkering with Rotating sprites in software and I think it looks pretty sweet ! In the video 4 * 32x32 sprites are rotated through 64 steps at 30 FPS in software, it could be 60 FPS and more rotating objects if we were not doing the scaling at the same time but even blast processing has its limits ;-) Rotation at 30 FPS is far smoother than you typcially see in even in pre-rendered rotations anyhow ( a 64 frame 32x32 rotation is 32kb - not small ). Challenges were make it fast : very fast as this needs to work at pixel level, not double pixel like scaling. The megadrives packed pixel format (2 pixels per byte) makes that a little bit tricky . When I started the algorithm was 3x slower than now. Make it sensible : has to be usable in game , had to present a rom size reduction over pre-rendered animation. Make it flexible : so we can rotate frames in the background using up idle cycles (end of frame) and store those frames to vram for very heavy cpu scenes, so we can still have very smooth rotation with very heavy cpu demands still. After Scaling I've been tinkering with Rotating sprites in software and I think it looks pretty sweet ! In the video 4 * 32x32 sprites are rotated through 64 steps at 30 FPS in software, it could be 60 FPS and more rotating objects if we were not doing the scaling at the same time but even blast processing has its limits ;-) Rotation at 30 FPS is far smoother than you typcially see in even in pre-rendered rotations anyhow ( a 64 frame 32x32 rotation is 32kb - not small ). Challenges were make it fast : very fast as this needs to work at pixel level, not double pixel like scaling. The megadrives packed pixel format (2 pixels per byte) makes that a little bit tricky . When I started the algorithm was 3x slower than now. Make it sensible : has to be usable in game , had to present a rom size reduction over pre-rendered animation. Make it flexible : so we can rotate frames in the background using up idle cycles (end of frame) and store those frames to vram for very heavy cpu scenes, so we can still have very smooth rotation with very heavy cpu demands still. 5001 lights in WebGPU (Shade). 1 directional shadowed light with CSM + 5000 sphere lights. Using clustered lighting, similar to Unreal, the screen is split into tiles of 32x32 pixels and then further split along the Z axis. Lights are culled and binned. Most of the time engines implement clustered lighting with a fixed number of partitions in XY, something like 40x20, let's say, this is generally fine, but it doesn't adapt to different aspect ratios and tends not to scale as well into higher screen resolutions. Finally, by splitting the XY in 32 pixel increments (or anything that's 2^N really) - you get better wave coherence, that is - pixel shader runs more efficiently. The engine supports up to 10,000 so-called "local lights" in the frame, which can be either be sphere lights (point lights with volume) or spot lights. When I say "in the frame" - I mean on-screen at the same time. There can be a million lights in the scene for example, but only 10,000 can be visible at a time. Can increase the limit, but I reckon 10,000 is already a pretty (un)reasonable limit.

Westwood was such an amazing game studio. One of their timeless classics is Eye of the Beholder 2, which was released in 1991. The intro alone gave me nerd chills - anyone who ever played Dungeons & Dragons would remember Khelben Blackstaff, and if he considers you his friend, what an honour! The game itself is your typical dungeon crawler. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way but appreciating it for what it was and is, a great game of its genre. Excellent graphics (I am such a sucker for that 90s pixel style), good sound effects and music, and an easy to use interface, making the real-time fights fast paced but manageable. Among the greats of Bard's Tale, Might and Magic, Ultima, and Wizardry, the likes of Eye of the Beholder or Lands of Lore were probably a tier below, but I always loved coming back to them. To me, this game is emblematic of the early 90s, and for that I love it.
