For many years, South Africans have quoted Mugabe’s speech—where he said he would assist South Africa diplomatically and not militarily—to justify the perception that Zimbabwe did not help South Africa in its fight for independence. But this ignores key facts. Mugabe was already at war with the apartheid government in Mozambique and in Matebeleland when be made this speech. Additionally, its is also illogical to expect Mugabe to openly reveal military plans to his enemies—the apartheid regime and their Western allies—in the media, especially knowing that the ANC and its leaders were labelled terrorists by the U.S., U.K., and the broader Western world. Therefore, Mugabe could not publicly admit to assisting “terrorists” in armed operations against a sovereign state, as it would have been considered a breach of international law. This was despite the reality that he was already fighting two wars agaist the apartheid government in Matebeleland and Mozambique, after the apartheid government attacked Zimbabwe.

When I shared this video last week of South African businessman Rob Hersov telling us what Trump is doing to South Africa now, many dismissed Hersov as a liar. His words have come to pass! Many are wondering why Trump chose aid cuts for South Africa rather than sanctions or tariffs. The people urging him on and falsely claiming that white South Africans are being persecuted by their government are white business owners and pressure groups. They know that sanctions or tariffs would hurt them, whereas cutting aid will supposedly harm poor black South Africans and the government. Luckily for South Africa, only 17% of its antiretroviral support comes from America, and it receives no other aid from there according to President Ramaphosa! It is time for African countries to wean themselves off Western donor aid. We do not need it; what we need is trade, especially among ourselves, and an end to corruption. Africa is a continent of roughly 1.5 billion people, as big as China, we need to focus on trade. We have been saying this for years, hopefully the leaders will now see some light! And to the Black South Africans who were cheering on Trump, they say you do not kick a man when he is down! In Zimbabwe, we have a saying: a dog’s puppies do not open their eyes on the same day.

Zimbabweans are shocked to hear that South Africa’s biggest trading partner in Africa is not Zimbabwe but Mozambique. We have been fed too much propaganda about how big a partner we are to South Africa, yet we just import $2 billion worth from South Africa while South Africa and Mozambique have an $8 billion trade relationship. In my documentary I talk about how Mozambique has overtaken Zimbabwe in terms of currency management and infrastructure because Zim leaders are busy fighting to stay in power and destroying our stability, instead of building the country while Mozambiques leadership focuses on improving Mozambican lives.

They do not hate Africans. They helped South Africa to be free from colonialism. Of course, they will still help South Africans to name their country Azania and even gain economic freedom because Zimbabwe is ahead of South Africa in terms of black striving economy.
