A top man who brought Scotland teams to Kilbirnie to Valefield Park. Kilbirnie boy, never forgot his roots. I met him many times he came in to dressing room to wish us the best. His dad played for Kilbirnie in juniors 1952 Scottish cup winner. After senior career. Great family.

Super player. And many a striker for Scotland would be jealous of his goals to games ratio…

This makes Ollie Watkins scoring the winner for England tonight even better. He wanted John McGinn and Scotland to succeed, and the beady eyed jock laughed in his face wishing nothing but misery on England. McGinn was one of the worst players at the Euros

The comeback arc of Peter Beardsley was complete on 17/05/1994 with his goal vs Greece at Wembley. In a World Cup warm-up, though NOT for England, the USA-bound Greeks were put to the sword 5-0. “Pedro” had inexplicably been left out of Graham Taylor’s England squads for the last couple of years of his reign. New boss Terry Venables recalled him in his first squad vs Denmark, and that decision was justified in his second game back.

Gordon McQueen, a colossus of a defender, supreme in the air with heading the ball is trademark. Ultimately heading the ball is the likely cause of his dementia, which eventually took his life. He was a great fella. When I often saw him at The Black Bull Pub in Yarm, we spoke at length about football in the 1970s and 80s. He had time for everyone. But I also think the PFA should do more for former players, his daughter Anna called them a disgrace after they received no financial help towards their dad’s battle with the disease which took away the family savings. Too many former players have sadly passed away to this cruel disease, what now can be done to stop more? #dementia HAYLEY MCQUEEN

Just three months later and he’s left the club on a permanent deal to Stoke City. For me, this goal was forever be remembered as one of his best goals in the academy. Once A Red, Always a Red. All the best and smash it, Ruben.

Remembering Robert Edward “Hugh” Lambert, my late husband and father of my children, on the anniversary of his birth. Hughie was a wonderful man, so funny and very handsome, with warm hazel eyes and great hair. I adored him. He was the love of my life and I’ll miss him for the rest of my days. Happy heavenly birthday, honey. I love you.

On 31/05/1997, England recorded a fairly routine 2–0 World Cup qualifying win in Poland, with goals from Shearer and Sheringham. The game is probably best remembered for something else, though: it was the first ever live football match shown on the new, “exciting” Channel 5. Jonathan Pearce was unleashed on a massively unprepared and unsuspecting world. At least he didn’t overdo it with his commentary anyway….

Wayne Rooney For me the most complete CF I’ve played with & seen in PL… He could do anything + everything. Was a hairy man at 16 making his debut. Went onto International scene & had the country hopes on his shoulders at such a young age. Broken Man Utd records. His willingness to sacrifice his game for others - selfless. This is the most raw / emotional interview I’ve done in a long time. Opening up on his image - highs & some of the biggest lows. Constant paparazzi following him still today. It was a pleasure my man 🤝🏽 Wayne Rooney Rio Ferdinand Presents

This is all that matters at this point 🥰 I’m glad Faith is back home with genuine people who love him fiercely and see him for the amazing soul he is. No amount of false narratives can take away his impact on the millions of lives who watched and experienced his greatness for over 9 weeks. Faith left an indelible mark on this franchise. He’ll always be remembered as the man who always wins ✊🏾 #BBNaija
