The UAE ambassador in Somalia can have breakfast in Kismayo, lunch in Mogadishu, dinner in Garowe, and sahour in Hargeisa, freely, safely, and confidently. Yet Somalia’s own president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, cannot do the same. So, who truly holds power in Somalia? Like it or hate it, Somalia now moves as the UAE’s silent 8th Emirate. Hadda waxaa la hadal hayaa madaxweyne Hassan Laascaanood ma tagi karaa?Rest in peace, Somali sovereignty. 🇸🇴💔

Today’s MoU signed by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed & Musa Biihi the secessionist figurehead from Northern Somalia to grant the Ethiopia an access to the Red Sea is undemanding the stability of the Horn of Africa region President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud opened the flood gates for this blatant disregard of international law, by cozying upto— legitimizing the separatists & calling them a government he has emboldened even them further to enter into haphazard negotiations. If he doesn’t come out strongly against this naked aggression against Somalia’s political unity & territorial integrity, the Somali parliament must initiate an immediate impeachment motion against him while also trying him for the charge of high treason. Selling the Somali territory, plot by plot 20km, 50km is uncalled for and totally unacceptable. This move of granting Ethiopia a 20km stretch of sea in exchange of the mirage of recognition, will only serve to heighten the already tense relations in the region, Djibouti whose port supplies 95% of Ethiopia lies next to #Zeylac while Eritrea which will not take lightly this previously touted encroachment on the high seas is also on the Red Sea. It is also the contention of #Egypt which is embroiled in a bitter dispute with Ethiopia and now finds it fit to move into Somalia to counter them. I ask all sane people is any of this suitable for Somalia, the horn of Africa or the wider middle east-gulf nexus? As for the recognition, it is delusional to think that the African Union charter can make exception for Somaliland which has no legs to stand on, there is 34 active separatist movements in Africa if OLA/Shene, TPLF, FANO all claim to be sovereign states will Abiy Ahmed grant them recognition too? It is a pandora box that no multilateral organisation will dare open. Lets come to Somaliland itself, when has it ever happened in Somali history that one clan of Somalis call themselves a government & gifts land that another group of people live to a third people— Ethiopians no less! Zeylac is in #Awdal where the locals do not want to be part of the failed secessionist project. Even one clan of Somalis can’t grant Berbera port to another government that will definitely create civil war within Somaliland. As for #SSCkhaatumo it is already an established unionist region, who will address the unsolved conflict that separatists want to still continue?

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s address today was another frustrating attempt at redemption. He called for a sudden push towards confederation in a region where the states have deep mistrust of each another due to the lack of genuine reconciliation with no sight of trust building, this can only be called a pipe dream. I deciphered excerpts from his address 👇🏻 He reportedly said “we will not invade any other country, all we are saying is that let’s negotiate before a famine comes to engulf our large population. In such a time, the existing laws work & we will not abide by them. If we cannot get food to our people because we don’t have ports, we will become vulnerable to hunger & famine, no one will stop us, we will be forced to eat whatever we can find by any means, it is human nature. We should find a solution, the world’s governments have to help 120 million before they get to that desperation, this can be corrected.” He went ahead to say “it is our desire that East African countries do away with the artificial borders, have a joint diplomacy & army while even still maintaining individual flags. Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia & Eritrea’s army can be stationed on the Red Sea & Indian Ocean while the police keep the interior. We must grow together to prosper, it can be done that is all we are asking.”

During Eid prayers, President Ibrahim Traoré had no reserved space, he stood among the worshippers like everyone else. Unlike many Muslim leaders who secure front-row spots to show off their piety, he chose humility over spectacle. Faith is about sincerity, not deception.

According to Turkish scholar and expert in maritime issues, Dr. Cihat Yaycı, Somalia’s resources are being exploited by the West, specifically the UK, US, and Israel. while Somalis themselves are kept from benefiting. To maintain control, the international powers are currently fueling instability by reactivating terrorist groups Al-Shabaab in southern/central Somalia, which is currently undertaking a new wave of attacks in central regions and ISIS in the north. This ensures continued foreign intervention, keeping Somalia weak and impoverished while Western nations profit. (Dr Cihat Yayci is retired Turkish Admiral known for his work on Maritime issues.

KNOW YOUR HISTORY: To the Somali young generation who were misled into believing their country was always the begging bowl and the laughing stock that the Ethiopia-armed clan-based rebels rendered it to be in 1991, this is Omar Arteh Qalib, the foreign minister of Somalia in 1972, dictating to the region what to do and what not to do about a raging war between Tanzania and Uganda. If you pay attention, you will notice that the Somali top diplomat, who deployed SNA Commandos along the border between Uganda and Tanzania, is warning the Tanzanian forces who invaded Uganda a week earlier. "The Peace Formula" he is referring to is the "Mogadishu Deal," a Somalia initiative through which a lasting solution would be reached between the two countries. New York Times (October 08, 1978) Arteh is proudly disembarking from a clearly marked Somali Air Force airplane at Jomo Kenyatta Airport to talk to an anxious Western press on his way to a hotel in Nairobi, where he was staying overnight so that he could share the development of the Mogadishu Deal with H.E. Mzee Jomo Kenyatta the next morning. President Kenyatta then saw it perfectly fitting to completely defer to Somalia in solving the crisis. Arteh left Kenya the following day.

Ethiopia’s narrative of ‘access to the sea’ is reckless and destabilizing. It mirrors Bibi Netanyahu’s ‘river to sea’ slogan, an expansionist dream that only fuels conflict. PM Abiy’s push to dominate from river to sea is firmly rejected by Red Sea nations, who will never allow such ambition. This dangerous rhetoric risks igniting war, plunging the Horn of Africa into chaos. The sooner Ethiopia abandons this destructive narrative, the better for peace, stability, and regional security.

Yes, Northern Kenya is 60% of Kenya’s land mass yet remains underdeveloped, not just because of Nairobi, but because of criminally failed local leadership. Each county received budgets bigger than Somalia’s Ministry of Finance YEARLY. Still: no national schools, no universities, no industries, no irrigation system, no clean water. Money went to clan deals, ghost projects, and mansions, not institutions. Until we admit this hard truth and stop outsourcing blame, no one will trust Northern Kenya with serious budgets. You can take it to Bank Dr Ali. .Mohamed Wehliye, MBS FCPA Billow Kerrow @Abdikadir Mohamed SC Abdishakur Hussein, OGW 🇰🇪 Ahmednasir Abdullahi SC

Kenya’s Foreign Minister Alfred Mutua tells a gathering of the African Union about how easy it is for a European to visit Africa and how hard it is for an African to visit Europe. He also reiterated how it is extremely difficult for Africans to travel between each other. It is about tedious visa restrictions in the continent is fully addressed. Kenya wants to lead the way in opening her doors to Africans. True Pan-Africanism is in the easing of the people to people relations between brotherly nations of the African continent. I say way to go!

No Sudanese could inflict this kind of horror on their own people. These are foreign mercenaries turning Sudan into a graveyard. El Fasher is collapsing under unimaginable suffering. The world’s silence is deafening and history will remember it forever.

Sudan and Somalia share a deep historic bond. Generations of Somali intellectuals graduated from Sudanese universities and two stood together like family. This song reminds us of that brotherhood. Sadly today’s politicians shattered it. They only think about their own stomach. The politics of Solidarity has been replaced by the politics of the belly. IT’S SAD, VERY SAD Dr. Abdi Issa ,

A study shows 7 out of 10 Somalis suffer from psychiatric issues, not the loud kind, but the kind you spot as soon as they start talking. Years of civil war left people walking trauma cases with passports. This isn’t surprising. When a nation normalizes survival over healing, madness becomes culture. It’s not them, it’s the broken system that raised them. Your comments please
