For the first time since 2017, the National Lottery Authority has presented a dividend to Government, paying GH¢10 million. This is a welcome step, but it must not be symbolic. The Ghanaian taxpayer deserves more. I am working with the Attorney-General to complete, this month, a review of agreements that have unreasonably ceded NLA revenue to others at the expense of the State. The NLA must focus on its core mandate and deliver full value to the people. Ghana has lost enough. I will ensure that every pesewa due the State from the NLA is paid.

At a meeting with our comrades, the leadership and members of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), I made our next step clear: turn economic stability into decent jobs and better livelihoods. Through the NEW ECONOMY, we will grow businesses, create opportunities and put the Ghanaian worker at the heart of our economic transformation.

Our mission is to produce more of what we consume and create more jobs here at home. Every import is an opportunity to ask: why can’t we make it in Ghana? That is the promise of the NEW ECONOMY: Ghana producing. Ghanaians working. Prosperity growing!

Hearty congratulations to our indefatigable army on a stellar job. By the end of this year, the full funding for the transformational Accra-Kumasi Expressway will be ready. This could be the first time funds for a project of this scale have been fully secured before construction begins. For the avoidance of doubt, not a single pesewa will be borrowed for this project!

Accra–Kumasi Expressway Project This historic project marks Ghana’s first true expressway, a modern high-speed corridor linking Accra and Kumasi. Stretching almost 200 kilometres from the coast to the forest belt, the expressway will transform travel and trade, cut journey times significantly, and boost growth across the southern regions. The route runs southeast to northwest through the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Ashanti regions, touching key towns like Adeiso, Asamankese, Akim Oda, Ofoase, and Kwaso. In total, the highway covers 198.7 kilometres, including 23 kilometres of urban connecting sections in Accra and Kumasi built to a 4-lane standard at 60 kilometres per hour, and a 175-kilometre main expressway of 6 lanes designed for speeds up to 120 kilometres per hour. It will stand as a symbol of Ghana’s commitment to modernisation, connectivity, and inclusive growth.

An update on the phenomenal work being undertaken by the Ghana Armed Forces on President Mahama’s transformational Accra-Kumasi Expressway project. So far, about 51km of the entire stretch has been successfully cleared. In June, following assessments by the relevant state agencies, the Ghana Armed Forces will commence the payment of compensation to affected citizens. Steadily, deliberately, and with remarkable professionalism, the foundation is being laid for what will become one of Ghana’s most strategic and economically transformative corridors. The progress made so far is truly impressive.
