Only 100 were ever built. Yet decades later, the B-1 remains one of the most powerful conventional bombers on Earth. It can fly at Mach 1.25, carry up to 75,000 pounds (34 tonnes) of bombs and missiles, and reach targets thousands of kilometers away with aerial refueling extending its range across the globe. The B-1 has been used in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and against ISIS, where it delivered more conventional weapons than any other U.S. bomber during key phases of those conflicts.
