The Canadian state is in the same position that post-war conservatives faced during the leftist cultural revolution of the 1960s. Ideological vanguards emerged across occupations and education levels, coalescing around a shared umbrella of ideas, too numerous to effectively police or contain. With the construction of the managerial state in Anglo-Canada, combined with the left-liberal long march through the institutions, this cultural revolution gained the means to entrench itself. It used expanding state power to formally impose its ideology over three generations. This version of Canada, defined by the cultural mosaic, state-enforced diversity, social liberalism, and the prioritization of individual minority rights for foreign diasporas over the binational core, has long since entrenched itself. It is now calcified and brittle. As that brittleness increases, so does its tendency to lash out, resorting to illiberal tactics such as Zersetzung. The popular, ideological, and political coherence of this era is now visibly eroding, most clearly reflected in the growing tensions between youth and the old. The image of the Brantford boomer giving two middle fingers to the younger generation captures it well. What remains is a stale, defensive regime clinging to a dying post-war liberal order. As Saturn and the Titans overthrew Uranus, so too will a new generation seek to overthrow the current order, just as Jupiter cast down the Titans and established a new regime in their place.

McGill founded McGill university, and the first hospital. Simon Frobisher and Mactavish built the North West Company, chief competitor to the Hudson’s Bah Company The first steamships, industry and large scale commercial banking and trade, leadership over the construction of the Lachine canal which allowed for goods to be shipped up and down the St. Lawrence River to the rest of Canada was done by Scots. Intermarrying with French Canadians, and creating some of Canada’s most powerful elites. Settling the Canadian Province of Nova Scotia (New Scotland), whose flag is an inverted St. Andrew’s Cross with the Scottish royal standard in the centre. The Royal Bank of Canada was founded in 1864, now the largest corporation in Canada by William Cunard, a Halifax, Nova Scotia merchant and son of the Scottish settler. Yet country now appears to be the only remaining musical subculture that is implicitly White. In one of the oldest cities on the North American continent, where folk, rock, goth, electronic, and metal once formed the culture of a vibrant and distinctly urban Montreal youth, little remains beyond multicultural detritus and crude imitations of American rap drawn from the lowest strata of American society, then localized within unintegrated foreign diasporas. Even country, for all its revolting corporatization, inauthenticity, synthetic production, and absorption of pop, rap, and trap influences, remains, frustratingly, a broadly White North American genre. I neither identify with it nor have I ever particularly cared for it. To me, it is foreign in two respects: it is American, and it is rural. We once danced traditional folk dances to something called la gigue, a tradition shaped by the meeting of French Canadian, Irish, and Scottish settlers, performed to fiddles and live bands. Montreal also became one of the great centres of heavy music, hosting enormous metal festivals and concerts, including Heavy MTL. Quebec also produced a large number of metal bands. These were living expressions of a distinct local culture, rooted in the people and history of the place, the industrial and commercial hub with multigenerational families of urban labourers. Now it’s all gone. Replaced with foreign music as a vector for foreign culture. Your two choices are White Southern American or Black American, and the worst elements of both.
