I was somewhat surprised by the performance. 📌 Celebrations on such occasions should be meaningful and connected to the traditions and customs of the region. 📌 It should also express a culture and deliver a message through such activities. I did not find a specific message in it. I greatly respect the observation of the people. 📌 We directed that national events should be purposeful and connected to Syria’s customs and culture.

𝗔𝗹-𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗮: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘆𝗿𝗶𝗮 Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa said in an interview with 60 Minutes: 📌 We saved the Syrian people from the oppression of a criminal regime and restored hope for refugees and the displaced to return home. 📌 We supported victims of chemical attacks, confronted ISIS, and expelled Iranian militias and Hezbollah from our land. 📌 These were noble acts that should have been the role of the international community, yet it failed to act. 📌 The world could not free a single prisoner or break a single siege, nor did it deter the regime from using chemical weapons. 📌 We should not be standing accused at the defense table; rather, we should be asking why others stood silent as crimes unfolded. 📌 Anyone opposing the lifting of sanctions is complicit in killing the Syrian people again by blocking reconstruction and recovery.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu on Syria: I'm interested in what happens on the ground. Does Syria become a peaceful country? Does he (President al-Sharaa) weed out the jihadists in his own military? Does he work with me to achieve a demilitarized zone in southwest Syria that borders the Golan Heights? I want an arrangement that both demilitarizes southwest Syria and provides permanent protection for the Druze minority in Syria. If we achieve that, we can move forward. Syrian President answering whether he wants to normalize with Israel: Since our arrival in Damascus, Israel has acted against Syria, bombing locations, carrying out incursions into Syrian territory, and violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. We applied the same policy we are discussing: we tried dialogue through indirect negotiations and then direct negotiations, reaching good points, but the Israelis changed their position at the last minute.
