First, I identify with the Golan, and it is not a source of shame for me. It is a part of my story through every stage and circumstance. 📌 I did not become a president overnight; this came after more than 23 years of work, effort, and a series of achievements. 📌 The history I carry is also one of heavy burdens — marked by blood, the sacrifices of many martyrs, and the suffering and cries of many people. 📌 I am not ashamed of my past; on the contrary, I embrace it, take pride in it, and now it became as part of Syria’s heritage.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu on Syria: I'm interested in what happens on the ground. Does Syria become a peaceful country? Does he (President al-Sharaa) weed out the jihadists in his own military? Does he work with me to achieve a demilitarized zone in southwest Syria that borders the Golan Heights? I want an arrangement that both demilitarizes southwest Syria and provides permanent protection for the Druze minority in Syria. If we achieve that, we can move forward. I was somewhat surprised by the performance. 📌 Celebrations on such occasions should be meaningful and connected to the traditions and customs of the region. 📌 It should also express a culture and deliver a message through such activities. I did not find a specific message in it. I greatly respect the observation of the people. 📌 We directed that national events should be purposeful and connected to Syria’s customs and culture.

We were delayed. Our interest is to reach a security agreement with Syria. 📌 We would like to reach a peace and normalization agreement with Syria, but for now we focus on a security agreement to secure our border. 📌 We saw terrible images from confrontations and massacres of Alawites and Druze in Syria.
