One thing I like about Ralph and Sam is that the two feel more equal which sells their working relationship. 'Don't Give Up the Sheep' has my favourite example of this. The escalation here is wonderful, going on just long enough to catch you off guard with that final subversion.

Clampett seemed to have the most fun with Blanc and Bryan's chemistry and 'The Old Grey Hare' is his best showcase of this. The darkly comic ending is made so much funnier by the duo hamming it up in elderly voices. "So long Methuselah" is also one of the all-time greatest lines.

'Bowery Bugs' has some of the finest voice acting in a short. Blanc plays Bugs with a delightfully obnoxious joy, making it his most psychotically jaded portrayal. Meanwhile, Bletcher gives Brody this vulnrability that hilariously contrasts with his threatening appearance.

'Who Killed Who?' is an excellent spoof of murder mystery films that's completely loaded with gags. The moody lighting, the corny organ music and the many tropes sell the subversive comedy through its faithfulness. It's one of Avery's best of MGM... and it was only his second.

The endings to the Jack Kinney's Goofy shorts always steal the show and none does it better than the chase in 'Tiger Trouble'. An excellently manic pacing with fast, bouncy animation that keeps up a continuous flow of gags, all backed by a hysterically brash and jazzy soundtrack.

'The Missing Mouse' may not be a horror-themed short but its unsettling final visual of a desolate, destroyed town makes it a perfect Halloween watch. I love the night theming throughout. Something about the casual way its done here gives a unique feel no other night short has.

More than anything, I love the atmosphere in 'A Grand Day Out'. Even in the tenser moments, there's a relaxed feel to the whole thing that makes it very comfortable viewing. It also really benefits the dry humour, with the long, calm silences helping the payoffs land extra hard.

I'm conflicted on 'My Little Duckaroo'. The card game and cigarette sequences are great but Daffy's aimless ramblings that pad the rest of the short are far too drawn-out and tedious. That being said, "I think you're pretty tough, don't it" is one of my favourite lines.
