We were down in Rochester & Strood today - where MP Lauren Edwards is under the most pressure to revive the failed assisted death Bill and push it through into law. Local residents turned out with The OH's Fiona Mackenzie MBE & Not Dead Yet UK, to ask her not to return this Bill.

Henry "even if a few grannies get bullied into it" Marsh clarifies: Agrees "yes, in principle", if there's some cases of coercion into 'assisted' death, the greater public good is satisfied. "There is always a cost" "But you justify that risk by saying more people benefit" (Marsh regrets "crass" comment on "sacrificing grannies": "I didn't realise it was going to get into the public domain")

On assisted death for women with terminal anorexia: After a series of committee witnesses have dismissed Chelsea Roff's findings, Dr Naomi Richards says it happens in the AD model for this bill but is a "very minor issue", and "a bit of a red herring", a distraction from "a new mode of dying". "It's like a very sort of minor kind of issue to get focused on. I've seen so much about this in the press and discussed here..." "there is 1 or 2 cases. I mean, this is not something that should be given a huge amount of time because it's a distraction from the fact that really what we're talking about is a new mode of dying" ... "to get fixated on the two people with terminal anorexia who have access to assisted dying in the States is a bit of a red herring, I think."

"Why are you claiming it will close the anorexia loophole when all the experts are saying it would not?" "I think it's fair to say the Telegraph are not a big fan of my bill, but thank you for coming anyway." Astonishingly testy: Assisted Death bill sponsor to Janet Eastham.

'what is the point of an investigation, even a prosecution, after someone has been coerced into ending their life" Max Hill, ex DPP, exposes a danger in thinking behind the bill It bins a coroner's duty to investigate, and family won't be told. Total trust in the Drs and panel.

"If you offer me Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) today, you'll be the fourth person who's started with that" a patient's plea to an approaching hospital doctor. This is what happens when doctors can raise assisted death with patients. We must learn from Canada:

It wasn't in a manifesto It is not a government bill It is just a private members bill Kim Leadbeater wanted to do a bill on puppy smuggling before she was persuaded to take on Assisted Death Would peers be demanding the Puppy Smuggling Bill pass unopposed?

The Vic, 🇦🇺 ex-AG tells us that Assisted Death reality is worse than expected: you cannot escape it. Patients can't find Drs who won't push death onto them, Drs who are seen to block VAD are 'victimised', and leave, the system is now one that responds to suffering with death.

"lots of: 'agree on the principle and then worry about the detail later'. The devil is in the detail. We can't be making legislation based on a principle or a feeling". NEW EPISODE: 16x Paralympic medallist, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson says "This is a bad bill, at the wrong time"

This is why any safeguards which make it into the Assisted Death bill will soon become portrayed as 'barriers' to equal right of access. The safeguards will then start to be removed. As has happened in Australia and Canada within a few short years. 'Safeguards become barriers':

Jeepers. Exactly the kind of assisted dying safeguarding collapse we fear. A couple - NOT terminally ill - find drs willing to sign them off for dual euthanasia. Possibility of coercion glossed over: 'he didn't want to live without his love'. Family fears 'what if one changed their mind at the last minute' - when everyone had gathered and booked the meal! And the whole thing romanticised in media. Exactly what happened in Canada - where couple deaths are now commonplace. 👇 Nothing to prevent dual euthanasia in Leadbeater's bill.
