GOVERNMENT DOES NOT ALWAYS HAVE TO BUY EVERYTHING. When we undertook the change of police uniforms, we deliberately chose a different approach. We looked at the capacity that already existed within government and asked how we could use it better. The National Youth Service, with its vocational and technical training capacity, was part of that approach. We also worked across public institutions and with the private sector to make use of existing skills, facilities and capabilities. The result was a model that helped us manage costs, build local capacity and create opportunities for Kenyans. The lesson was simple: Government does not always have to buy everything. Sometimes government already has the capacity — it simply needs to coordinate it properly. That is how we should think about public expenditure. And as we discuss another change of police uniforms today, we should ask a bigger question: Are we getting the greatest possible value from the resources available to us? A uniform can change the appearance of a police officer. But good governance must go further. It must strengthen institutions, build capacity and ensure that every shilling spent delivers value to the Kenyan people. The test of leadership is not how much government spends. It is what government achieves with what it spends. That is how we build a Country That Works. #PamojaMbele

On Sunday, April 19, I told Citizen TV’s Sunday Live that I would not have signed the Government-to-Government (G2G) oil deal and called for the agreement to be made public. President Yoweri Museveni has now revealed that Uganda was buying fuel through middlemen in Kenya and paying significantly higher premiums, raising serious questions about an arrangement presented as Government-to-Government. Kenyans deserve transparency and accountability. The G2G agreement must be published in full. The role of the middlemen must be disclosed and scrutinized. And the National Oil Corporation of Kenya (NOCK) must be restored to its proper role in securing supply and helping stabilize our fuel market. When public money is involved, secrecy cannot be the policy. Kenyans deserve to know who benefited, at what cost, and why.

When education was in trouble, I didn’t blame anyone, I fixed it!

Speaking during an interview on Wednesday night, Aden Duale claimed that the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) was my mess, one that the current administration is allegedly trying to fix. The real mess we are witnessing today is not the curriculum itself, but the gross incompetence with which the administration he serves has managed the education sector. Even the flagship 100% transition, a major milestone achieved through deliberate planning and system reforms has been badly mishandled and effectively undermined under their watch. And let us be frank. Whether they inherited CBC, 8-4-4, or 7-6-3, the outcome would have been the same. Incompetence is the only thing they execute with consistency. In fact, Members of Parliament aligned to government have recently publicly decried the spectacular incompetence of senior officials at the Ministry of Education who are more preoccupied with self-aggrandisement than with the serious business of running the Ministry . There is nothing wrong with the CBC , the present challenge is in the incompetent and chaotic management of the education sector. Hopeless implementation of the curriculum! But there is hope! We are ready to fix this again. When Kenyans rescue the country from incompetence and poor leadership in 2027, we will restore order, professionalism and results driven leadership in the education sector, and government as a whole.

If I am elected President, no one will line up at my office to offer me shares in their companies in exchange for favors or licenses. I will not intimidate investors or coerce them into paying to do business in the country. My responsibility will be to provide a fair, predictable, and conducive environment in which enterprise can thrive.

“We must move the party forward, and we must have a candidate. I have seen in Dr. Fred Matiang’i a leader who is a worker, is not corrupt, and knows his work. I will continue serving the party as Senior Advisor, and I have relinquished the position of Party Leader to Dr. Matiang’i.”

I will lead an effective and efficient government that delivers quality services to the people. The role of government is to regulate, create an enabling environment for growth, and effectively manage the nation’s security sector so that every citizen can live and work in safety and with confidence. #IkoNiniPodcast

My pledge to you, our party leader, to fellow party members and to the people of Kenya is this: if I am given the honour of carrying the flag of the United Opposition, and entrusted to lead this Party to electoral victory, we will form a government that builds on the foundation that you laid and restore national pride to this country and its citizens.

This morning, I arrived in Malava Constituency alongside my colleagues in the United Opposition Kalonzo Musyoka Eugene L. Wamalwa George Natembeya and other leaders to drum up support for the DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako ahead of Thursday’s by-election. We are determined to bring this home!

We can advise the government to release funds from the Petroleum Development Levy to help stabilize fuel prices and ease the burden on ordinary Kenyans. However, there are serious concerns as to whether sufficient reserves remain, given their poor management, misuse of public funds, and the corrosive effects of corruption. Kenyans deserve transparency, accountability, and prudent stewardship of every shilling collected from taxpayers. Public funds meant to cushion citizens during difficult times must never be diverted or mismanaged while wananchi continue to struggle with the rising cost of living.
