I’ve seen this video making the rounds with our endemic Jamaican boa. I’m not sure when the footage was taken, but I want to remind everyone that our Jamaican boa is not poisonous. If you ever come across one, you can gently use a stick to guide it away—there’s no need to hurt or chop our very special snakes. We only have a few left in Jamaica, so let’s protect them. Please be careful when entering dark, moist areas. Hurricane Melissa has displaced a lot of wildlife across Jamaica, including large centipedes. A giant centipede hid in a follower’s underwear after using the restroom and bit her in a very sensitive area. These bites can be extremely painful and may trigger allergic reactions that require medical attention. Stay alert. Shake out clothes.
