Vanar Robots (Vanar Robots) is India's scrappiest humanoid startup. They are: - 100% bootstrapped - Developing in-house software - Building in Aryan Wagh's parents' living room - Using local materials, e.g. fishing line tendons sourced from Mumbai's Koli community And yet, in spite of the many limitations they're up against, Vanar's vision is enormous. They want to: - Build robots that can navigate any environment - Equip Vanars with the ability to self-repair - Deploy their first industrial beta in 2027

Most of India's PCB prototyping still happens in China, with JLCPCB offering ultra-low cost, consistent quality, and ease of use for small quantities. Indian PCB manufacturers exist, but they struggle to compete with China on price. Now though, there's a new kid on the block. Vishal Tejwani is building PlaceStation, a made-in-India PCB manufacturing product ecosystem (based on open-source systems) that combines accelerated stenciling, component pick and place automation, and a custom reflow oven. By bringing all of these together in a desktop-sized assembly line, Vishal and team are unlocking unprecedented access to affordable in-house PCB prototyping for Indian startups. We visited Vishal Tejwani's R&D office in Mumbai to see how he's making it happen.
