First Section of Pune University Flyover is Open - Do share your suggestions / inputs. It's been a day since Raj Bhavan to RBI section of the long-awaited Pune University Multilevel Flyover was opened. While the full project will take another 3 months to complete, this partial opening is an important step toward easing traffic at Pune’s busiest junction. Over the next 7 days, I will be closely monitoring traffic flow along this newly opened stretch, staying in constant touch with the traffic department to resolve any challenges. I also want to hear from you : how can this section be made more convenient for commuters until the full flyover becomes operational? Overhead Internet & electrical Cables Pose Serious Threat to Citizens - Urgent Need to Enforce Duct Policy Today in the Maharashtra Assembly, I raised a pressing concern about the growing menace of overhead internet and cable wires across Pune city. A recent incident near Nanded City, where a snapped overhead cable grazed a motorist’s neck and caused an accident, is a grim reminder of the danger these loosely-hung wires pose. Unfortunately, such incidents are becoming far too common. Beyond the huge safety risk, these tangled, unregulated cables are a blight on our city’s skyline, damaging the aesthetics of Pune and giving our public spaces an unkempt, chaotic appearance. Despite the approval of a duct policy in 2018, it remains largely unimplemented. Private companies avoid laying underground cables due to the high ₹12,000 per running meter fee charged by the municipal corporation - choosing instead to install cheaper, riskier overhead wires. I urged the government to: Reconsider and rationalise ducting charges Enforce the underground duct policy on priority across the state. #MyModiStory My first meeting with Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji took place in 2013, during his historic rally in #Pune. At the time, my father, Anil Shirole Ji, was serving as the BJP Pune City President, and I was working as the General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. The atmosphere in the city was electric, thousands had gathered, filled with hope and belief that India was on the brink of change. I had the privilege of presenting Modi ji with a detailed comparative report on Gujarat’s development model, showcasing the progress achieved under his leadership in contrast with the governance of Congress-ruled states. He listened with genuine interest, appreciated the effort, and even extended an invitation for me to visit Gujarat and study the model more closely. For a young karyakarta like me, that acknowledgment was not just encouraging... it was transformative. What struck me the most, however, was not just his sharp vision or his attention to detail, but his humility. When I requested a photograph with him, he smiled warmly, readily agreed, and then called my father to join us in the frame. That gesture of including my father, of making the moment a shared memory for our family reflected the depth of his human touch. That photograph from 2013 and the memory of that first meeting remain etched in my heart. Beyond the leader who would go on to change the course of India’s destiny, I saw a person whose simplicity, accessibility, and heartfelt connection with people set him apart. Key Issues Raised in the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha for Pune’s Safety and Public Services In the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha, I raised several important issues aimed at strengthening citizen safety in Pune and improving veterinary healthcare infrastructure. Five New Cyber Police Stations for Pune With cybercrime steadily rising in the city, I reiterated my earlier demand from the previous session to establish five new cyber police stations in Pune. I urged the Home Department to expedite action on this proposal. Expanded CCTV Network and Advanced Technology I also called for the immediate rollout of 10,000 new CCTV cameras across Pune and urged the Government to announce the state’s comprehensive CCTV policy at the earliest. Additionally, I proposed integrating criminal databases with CCTV networks through face recognition technology, enabling real-time alerts to cyber cells when suspects are detected and significantly improving crime prevention and investigation. Upgrading the Aundh Veterinary Hospital Currently, the Aundh Veterinary Hospital provides only OPD services. I requested the Animal Husbandry Department to expedite the tender process for establishing a multispeciality veterinary treatment centre with modern facilities, and to fill vacant posts at the hospital at the earliest. Point of Information: Cleanliness of Hills (Tekdis) in #Pune Today, in the Vidhan Sabha, I highlighted the pressing issue of the worsening state of cleanliness of Pune's scenic hills. #Pune, renowned as the "City of Hills" is home to iconic tekdis such as Vetal Tedki, Taljai, Mhatoba, Parvati Hill, and an array of 35 hills adorning its landscape. Unfortunately, the cleanliness on our hills has deteriorated significantly. Disturbingly, miscreants are now using them as dumping grounds for both domestic garbage and construction waste. Sandalwood trees are being cut on Vetal Tekdi. Regrettably, the Forest Department has not been vigilant about these issues. Though various volunteer groups are engaged in cleanliness drives on the hills, miscreants continue to defy these efforts, clandestinely disposing of waste under the cover of night. Prompt and stringent measures are imperative to tackle this issue head-on. Immediate legal and penal actions need to be taken against those responsible for these crimes. Building Construction (Timings) Regulations for #Pune. In the ongoing winter session of the Vidhan Sabha, I raised the "Point of Information" and demanded construction regulations (SOP) for Pune City. Pune is expanding rapidly, and construction activities are booming at an unprecedented rate throughout the city. Construction work, especially during nighttime, has become a pressing concern for local residents, senior citizens, and children. It was brought to my notice that #Pune Municipal Corporation has not established specific regulations regarding permissible hours for construction work, despite directives from the Supreme Court. There is also a lack of guidelines on the precautions and care needed to ensure minimal disturbance to the surrounding citizens during these activities.
