Review culture is completely broken, and Fextralife’s coverage of Phantom Blade Zero proves it. When reviewers drop these numbers. like Mortismal 100% in 50–60 hours( a week) or Fextralife claiming 95% completion in 35 hours. It makes no sense! I’ve been playing non-stop since launch day, I’m 51 hours in, and I’m literally at 55% progression. Do the math. There is zero chance Fextralife played this game on Hellwalker for his entire playthrough. Since there’s no punishment or lock for swapping difficulty mid-game, he just dropped it to standard, spammed dialogue skip, followed dev press guides, and rushed the credits to beat the embargo. He crutched on one comfortable meta build to speed-run the review build, and now suddenly he's uploading video guides on all these different weapons and builds he barely touched before scoring the game. How are you gonna review an action game packed with parry mechanics, boss phases, and hidden builds when you bypassed all the mechanical depth just to drop a video first? If you’re treating a game like a chore on a checklist, you aren't reviewing it. You’re just reviewing how fast you can turn a press key into views

Fextralife played on Hell Walker, the hardest difficulty, while 66 Days is locked behind New Game Plus. He said enemies don’t respawn when you die: kill three, die, and return to fight only the remaining two. There’s no real fear of losing progress or replaying everything. Personally I’m fine with that we’ve all played action games before. He thinks locking 66 Days behind New Game Plus is a mistake. I think he is right players should choose their challenge from the start. If someone wants to suffer on their first playthrough, let them. Others can save it for NG+. Boss phases may frustrate some: reach phase three, die, and restart from phase three. It’s a deliberate choice we can respect, but people will have opinions. Reviews matter because they highlight things developers might overlook. Some want the hardest challenge from the beginning. Give them the options and let them decide. I hope they patch these. I’m happy it’s not a Souls-like, but it needs challenge. At least don’t lock 66 Days difficulty.

You know what I just remembered? 😂 Remember how people complained about the combo system in Wolverine? They said the combos were just Square, Square, Square and Triangle, Triangle, Triangle. So… what are the combos in Phantom Blade Zero? 😒 And what about this long thread showing exactly where the Bell is? Where’s the outrage? Why is nobody making fun of it? Oh yeah, I remember now. It’s not Wolverine. 😒

I honestly think almost everyone who reviewed this game, whether they liked it or hated it, completely missed the point of how its combat works. They all make the same mistake: because Insomniac made it, they expect Marvel’s Wolverine to play like Spider-Man. But Spider-Man is a fucking spider. He spends half his time flying around, fighting from the air, and using gadgets. That’s what his gameplay is built around. Wolverine is a fucking animal. A wolf. Wolves stay on the ground. They run, hunt you down, and go straight for the throat. If your entire criticism of Wolverine’s combat is based on comparing it to Spider-Man, you probably shouldn’t be reviewing the game. Almost every review also misunderstands this: Wolverine’s combat isn’t about killing enemies as quickly as possible with endless combos. The system revolves around filling your Rage meters as fast as possible so you can unleash hell and tear through groups of enemies. Rip and tear. Then I keep seeing the same complaint: “The active abilities have way too long of a cooldown.” That alone tells me they didn’t understand the combat system. There are passive abilities designed to reduce your cooldowns, and you can trigger those effects simply by using parts of your basic combos. #WolverinePS5 The mechanics are there. You just have to actually understand how the fucking system works.

People keep saying Onimusha: Way of the Sword is easy and that the enemies are dumb and just stand around waiting. Like I said before, the game gradually increases its difficulty and keeps introducing new enemy types. The further I get, the more challenging it’s becoming, and honestly, I’m really enjoying it. I got a new Hozuki 😜

I don’t understand why everyone thinks the enemies are dumb in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. It honestly just gives me the feeling that they’ve never played the OG Onimusha games. This isn’t a Souls game. It’s an action game. Plus, you’re literally in the first area. The difficulty will gradually increase as you progress. This is still the tutorial area where you’re learning the mechanics and getting used to the combat. Give the game some time before judging the enemy AI.

People obsess over difficulty and challenge, forgetting that fun is a core part of playing video games. It doesn’t matter if I get the Platinum trophy on my first playthrough or if bosses aren’t challenging. You can always stop upgrading gear for more challenge. FUN matters most. Phantom Blade Zero has reportedly sold 1 million copies before launch, and that number will keep rising. While others argue and fight, people who enjoy gaming will be playing Phantom Blade 0.

Spider-Man 2 had good mirror reflections long before 007 First Light and GTA 6. Very impressive! 🤌

I prefer the Chinese VA in Phantom Blade Zero. The English voice just didn’t vibe with me.

Every dev needs to watch this episode on Control Resonant about how to make a game that actually trusts the player. It doesn’t matter whether it’s open-world, semi-open-world, or linear—good level design should give players the freedom to observe, explore, and figure things out for themselves. Putting yellow paint everywhere is lazy. Link below 👇

If this is the final version of Black Myth: Zhong Kui, I think Phantom Blade Zero looks far better.

Everything I Learned About Lords of the Fallen II from the 3ed Anniversary Stream! If you missed yesterday’s 3rd-anniversary live stream, the chief creative officer Ryan Hill dropped a massive wave of information regarding the upcoming Lords of the Fallen II. —————— 🔔Character Creation & Customization: ✅Better Creator: Character creation is significantly improved compared to 2023. You have attribute sliders for everything, and you can even make Shrek if you want. ✅Save Creations: You will be able to save your character creations. ———————- 🔔Quests, Lore & Achievements: ✅Clear Quests: Quests will be easy to comprehend and follow. You won't have to watch YouTube tutorials or read every item description to understand the lore, boss motivations, companion quests, or story arcs. They don't want quest design to break immersion or force guide-checking. ✅No Lockouts: It won't have complicated, punishing different endings where you get locked out of side quests or need to open a specific door at a precise time. They want to respect players' time. Better Achievements: Achievements won’t be like launch 2023 where you have to play the game 7, 8, or 9 times. They will be fair, fun, and challenging. ———————- 🔔Combat, Weapons & Build Experimentation: ✅Balanced Difficulty: The game will be challenging and fair, unlike the 2023 game where enemies were constantly waiting to ambush you. ✅Combat Variety: You won't get bored of the combat; there are many options and ways to enjoy it, and each weapon feels different. ✅Weapon Types: Dual-wielding is great (favored by the director and fans), scythes feel great in the game, and short swords are confirmed to be a beast. ✅Build Experimentation: They are working on ideas to let players safely experiment with weapons, even if you find a weapon late in the game and don't want to take the risk. All quality-of-life upgrades from the first game will be available. ✅Gore: The game will feature satisfying dismemberment, decapitations, blood, and gore. ✅Executions: Executions are completely different from Mortal Shell 2 and feature many different animations. ———————- 🔔Development & Betas: ✅Extra Development Time: They delayed the game because they realized they could add more cool content, and they believe taking the extra time is worth it. ✅Closed Beta: A closed beta is coming in January for a small amount of people first, followed by a bigger one. (Console availability for the beta is still to be announced). ✅Next Up: The next episode of "Lifting the Veil" will be about weapons and abilities. ———————- 🔔UI & Other Details: ✅The UI looks interesting.

Beast of Reincarnation looks solid—30 hours, 10 chapters, and not open world. 😚 Watched some gameplay and the combat gives off Sekiro vibes (the clang isn’t loud but it’s satisfying). Physical copy doesn’t look expensive and needs no internet download, which is great. Waiting for Bigg Hardcore Gamer’s video on Monday for more gameplay. Plus, there’s a cute white dog! (I wish it was a big cat 👀 )
