This was one of the saddest things to see. People following the Dom so hard they literally pulled over next trees, unable to see anything. The janky bird fart tornado ongoing at the time was barely visible in the open, let alone through trees. I know the recovery vehicle has a purpose to follow, but everyone else? Pathetic. At one point prior to this the funnel passed nearly overhead as I sat on the side of the road watching, then the circus pulled up and things got clustered...had that thing actually planted into something real....yikes. Shortly after that and seeing how bad it was becoming, I had to change my strategy to simply put miles between myself and it all...the chase became more enjoyable minus the terrain/roads we were plagued with all day. There's a point where trying to be closest to get your little extreme storm chaser points isn't worth the loss of sanity. I'll gladly take a step back to breathe. I've got nothing to proove by trying to be mr zero meter all the time. I enjoy it, but only in certain circumstances.

DISTRACTED DRIVING. This was from my chase this past Sunday. This is especially for solo grinders. We all do it. We're checking radar, we're checking the phone, we're chatting on our radios, all of the tasks involved with chasing are numerous. The road is empty...noone is around...or so we think. At a moments notice, an abandoned vehicle sits half on the road. Thankfully I looked up, as we often do...but still, had I been locked into my screen for just a second or two longer...or if someone was coming in the other lane, or if it was raining. Its impossible to avoid the many distractions we face. But try, try and TRY.

Its a good thing this tornado didn't rapidly expand, speed up, strengthen etc etc... and yes I realize I too put myself at risk by hanging out too long, my mistake is assuming my escape route will be free of insanity and I can actually move at the speed I intend to.

When its time to FLEE. From Saint Libory. I was working to assume my preferred position from the north when my backroad turned into a muddy corn field access road. I was in the path of the fast moving, likely violent tornado. I stopped for about a minute to observe. No right to left no left to right. I could attempt to continue north knowing this...but it was too risky. What if the road got worse and I ended up stuck or trapped. I didn't know what was ahead and didnt have full confidence, given the look of the tornado, I bailed back south to let it cross infront of me. This is 6 minutes of video condensed into 20 seconds.

This is the nonsense I am trying to figure out. What I don't get is my OBS consistently is pushing out 2+mbps (I have my bitrate set at 2000) All my bonding sources or churning through their data (ATT, Esim, Starlink) So where the hell is all that data going?! I am seriously about to offer $10,000 to someone who will just rig my ride up and have it work. $5000 initially, and another $5000 if I have zero issues for two months. Or is this an unrealistic expectation to not be experiencing this kind of glitch

This is my ideal tornado range. Sometimes ill move in closer, and sometimes ill hang farther back...but to me the sweet spot is when I am able to be OUTSIDE of the vehicle, still close range and feeling the elements. The tornado is close enough I can see the ground contact clearly while needing to look UP to see the top of it, really putting its size into perspective. Being outside of the vehicle when its close is a whole different feeling. You're more exposed to the power, and more humbled by it. Being inside the vehicle for me, even if I'm closer, lacks that connection.

This is my ideal tornado range.
