This was one of the saddest things to see. People following the Dom so hard they literally pulled over next trees, unable to see anything. The janky bird fart tornado ongoing at the time was barely visible in the open, let alone through trees. I know the recovery vehicle has a purpose to follow, but everyone else? Pathetic. At one point prior to this the funnel passed nearly overhead as I sat on the side of the road watching, then the circus pulled up and things got clustered...had that thing actually planted into something real....yikes. Shortly after that and seeing how bad it was becoming, I had to change my strategy to simply put miles between myself and it all...the chase became more enjoyable minus the terrain/roads we were plagued with all day. There's a point where trying to be closest to get your little extreme storm chaser points isn't worth the loss of sanity. I'll gladly take a step back to breathe. I've got nothing to proove by trying to be mr zero meter all the time. I enjoy it, but only in certain circumstances.

THE SOUND OF SUB VORTS! I can't believe I didn't pick this up before, but you can clearly hear the sound of not one but TWO intense sub vorts from the Lena tornado. The WHOOSH-POP!

It’s honestly remarkable how the April 24-27 period consistently spits out multi-day high end severe weather setups. It’s probably the one period every year I’d put money on.

DISTRACTED DRIVING. This was from my chase this past Sunday. This is especially for solo grinders. We all do it. We're checking radar, we're checking the phone, we're chatting on our radios, all of the tasks involved with chasing are numerous. The road is empty...noone is around...or so we think. At a moments notice, an abandoned vehicle sits half on the road. Thankfully I looked up, as we often do...but still, had I been locked into my screen for just a second or two longer...or if someone was coming in the other lane, or if it was raining. Its impossible to avoid the many distractions we face. But try, try and TRY.

I swear its only a matter of time. STOP. DOING. STUFF. LIKE. THIS. PEOPLE!! LEARN. TO. DRIVE. AND. LEARN. TO. CHASE. WITHOUT. FOLLOWING. THE. DOM. Team Dom did nothing wrong here, but I have to show the whole clip for context. Its a good thing this tornado didn't rapidly expand, speed up, strengthen etc etc... and yes I realize I too put myself at risk by hanging out too long, my mistake is assuming my escape route will be free of insanity and I can actually move at the speed I intend to.

I have no idea what the world record is for a hail bounce but I am going to submit this as a contender. I can only guess maybe there was a trampoline in the Walmart parking lot lol? Kankakee, IL 3-10-26

I just noticed a second hailstone (white circle) bouncing incredibly high in this clip from Kankakee. I noticed the first one (red) fairly soon after. My theory for such a high bounce was perhaps a tampoline in the Walmart parking lot...but if these were natural bounces, those stones had to be incredibly large and dense to achieve such a thing. Id be willing to bet they're among the highest bounces ever documented

Wild day with anywhere from 9-15 tornadoes! A couple from very close range while sliding sideways on treacherous muddy roads. If you got stuck today don’t feel bad, that was about as bad as it gets out there! If you made it through without, congrats!

Using SPCs new data viewer and meticulously watching the loops I was able to trace the portion of the country that has, according to SPC data, a chance of seeing hail every single day of the year. I hear Matthew Cappucci has already secured land there...

Almost had the big one today. For those with the "Stay home if you want to complain about convergence" attitude. Its not the fact people are out chasing, its the fact we can't remember the basic rules of the road while doing so.

Impressive MCS makes it all the way from Kansas to the Gulf Coast this morning. Not something typically seen in August, and I don’t think any CAM modeled this correctly.

This is my ideal tornado range. Sometimes ill move in closer, and sometimes ill hang farther back...but to me the sweet spot is when I am able to be OUTSIDE of the vehicle, still close range and feeling the elements. The tornado is close enough I can see the ground contact clearly while needing to look UP to see the top of it, really putting its size into perspective. Being outside of the vehicle when its close is a whole different feeling. You're more exposed to the power, and more humbled by it. Being inside the vehicle for me, even if I'm closer, lacks that connection.

Here's the real video framing of the Onslow, IA tornado. That previous post was the "vertical format" friendly version I first made since that's where we're at now with society. I've got so much more from this and Minnesota I haven't even scratched the surface yet.

CLOSE CALL! A tornado knocked this pole down, then inflow into a NEW developing tornado flips it the other way, almost on top of me. Had to put it in the ditch!
