New for Rex testers. 👁️ Activity Mode shows you active and idling processes and agents for quick context switching, and some extra metadata. We're working our way slowly through the waitlist. Our priority is building quality software, so we're admitting testers in batches of 50 or 100 at the moment and addressing any feedback with the group before adding the next wave.

We've had this update UI in for weeks, but I still smile when I see it. We invited 350 new testers to Rex yesterday, more than the entire previous week.

I used the browser view transition api for this little detail. Hard to imagine when we had to live without this.

One of my favourite things about building Superlogical is that we all care, a disproportionate amount, about the little conveniences, performance gains and UI treats that most rational people just don’t. I'm currently working on our scrollback search UI. You basically have two common choices as a designer: a) insert a toolbar into the view or b) float a search bar over the view For terminals, any intrinsic size change causes a reflow - which is jarring for the user to see and potentially pushes offscreen something you were looking at. This means option A sucks. For option B though, the problem is that you’re potentially obscuring matched words that fall under the search UI since it floats over them. (Every app I tried makes this mistake which is kinda nuts) So what's the solution? Give our search UI a gentle nudge out the way when it's over something you're trying to see.

I used a similar technique recently to reverse engineer the beautiful tabs in OpenAI ‘s Atlas browser. Took a screen recording, had an agent describe the design, the tab metrics, the easing curves etc. Had Codex do one pass and have Claude critique it, and got this highly responsive, pretty well structured macOS component out of it

The benefits of switching between horizontal → vertical tabs are underrated. For the Superlogical multiplexer macOS client, both tab styles are great for very different working styles. For me, horizontal tabs are great for more focussed projects or tasks. I'll open a repo, spawn a few tabs with lazygit, a couple agents etc, and live in that for a while. Vertical tabs however, span sessions and even machines - much better for monitoring existing workloads, disparate agent runs and the like. Operator mode. Still quite early wip stuff but already a delight to use.

Today we're launching our first public Poolside models: Laguna M.1 and Laguna XS.2, and we've built ❈Shimmer, an instant-on VM sandbox with Poolside Agent pre-installed so you can try them out. Go play out our new models for free, and build something fun →

Sharing my opinionated setup for coding with agents. zellij + ghostty + codex, claude, pi & ∞ + lazygit Enough insight at a glance as to whats changing, but still surfing tokens. Inbuilt sensible keybindings and sane defaults. One command: ❯ sesh

made something I wanted for a while: a high performance custom tab/splits library in swift for native Mac apps. with support for drag/drop, CoreAnimation accelerated transitions, and more. spent a lot of time on the polish of this thing to feel snappy, but fun.

there's a lot of i love about this site, but i really enjoyed building this matrix-inspired, ascii art, interactive, poolside-logo-masked, code generating artwork. huge props to Glenn Hitchcock for his design vision here.
