A leader of an armed Chobo tribal militia, who identified himself as a Christian pastor, has released a viral video threatening coordinated nighttime attacks ("night mode operations") on Bachama-speaking communities in the Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State. He warned of impending mass killings and bloodshed. Speaking in Hausa, the leader blended ethnic grievances with religious rhetoric, comparing the Chobo tribe to Israel to assert that a smaller group could defeat its opponents. The threat stems from an ongoing land and chieftaincy dispute between the Bachama and Chobo communities in Lamurde, which has persisted despite prior peace agreements. In the video, the militia leader accused the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, of sponsoring Bachama fighters and fueling the conflict He concludes with a call for Nigerians to reject violence. It urges federal and state authorities to crack down heavily on arms proliferation, armed militias, vigilantes, and conflict sponsors to resolve such disputes permanently.

It has come to our attention that this particular video is one of the reasons behind Sheikh Jingir’s provocative statement that went viral. Ironically, the video itself did not trend the way his statement did, because many Christians chose to ignore it since it was not made by a Muslim cleric. It only gained attention after Sheikh Jingir responded. If we really want peace and coexistence, Christians need to check this bias. Let them also caution their pastors and political leaders to stop inciting hate against other religions
