This is so heartbreaking; He's just a kid. The pain in his voice is evident. This is institutional racism in action. Daryl McLune, 16 at the time, was arrested in Wandsworth in July 2021 on suspicion of attempted murder after his mum, Annette McLune, jumped from the roof of their flat in a suicide attempt. He'd been at his grandma's and cycled home to find his mum critically injured. He was then handcuffed in the street and held for nearly 24 hours, despite not being involved. Police later found a suicide note and razor blades showing it was self-harm, and he was released without charge. The experience left him with PTSD and affected his schooling. He later sued the Met Police, and a jury found he was racially discriminated against and treated less fairly than a non-Black boy would have been, awarding him £130,000. His barrister said it wasn't careful policing, it was a child in crisis being wrongly treated as a suspect, and that discrimination can be unconscious.

Seven people have died in a horrific crash on the A66 near Middlesbrough. The victims have been named as five young men Makai Saddington, 18; Michael Robert Cahill, 23; Jacob Matusiak, 23; Cole Robert Worthy, 16; and Theo Rae, 17, alongside two police officers, PC Matthew Blades, 37, and PC Tom Clough, 38. Police say the Volkswagen Passat was spotted driving suspiciously and on the wrong side of the road. A pursuit was abandoned before a marked armed response vehicle, travelling correctly on the A66, collided with a car going in the wrong direction at around 3.39am. Seven lives lost. A devastating tragedy.

Everyone was quick to judge this amazing Muslim woman for "catching" a seagull in a blanket. Turns out she was rescuing it. The young gull had fallen from a roof, and she was trying to get it safely back to a flat rooftop so it could reunite with its mother. A reminder that short clips don't always tell the whole story. 🐦❤️

Evidently, he's yet to learn that the 17-year-old victim from Brierfield, Lancashire, who was stabbed in the neck, is Pakistani. It'll be interesting to see whether that changes his perspective, and whether this video stays online once he becomes aware of it.

Currently stranded in Gran Canaria. Jet2 removed a group from a flight back to the UK while the rest of the passengers boarded. They were told to take a different flight to Birmingham and then make their own way home. What's raising serious concerns is that the passengers removed were all from ethnic minority backgrounds, including Muslim, South Asian, and North African travellers. They were informed at the last minute, given little support, and are now stuck at the airport. If this happened to you, would you accept the explanation? #Jet2 #TravelChaos #TravelDiscrimination

Update: Naina reported the racist abuse to Iberostar staff. The hotel reportedly spoke to the woman. The abuse and intimidation allegedly continued. When it was reported again, the family say they were told to "ignore her". For a hotel that claims "zero tolerance" for racism, that response sounds a lot more like tolerance than zero.

Israel occupation forces tested a small tactical nuclear device in Tartus, Syria. The strike was powerful enough to register on earthquake sensors, recording a magnitude of 3.1, and caused a massive mushroom cloud of smoke.
