Street talk 🗣️ in Bengaluru is that enforcement shouldn’t stop with small encroachments. If larger brands, malls, darshinis, cafés and office complexes have extended onto footpaths or are using them for parking or business, the same rules must apply. No exceptions. Repeat violations should invite stringent penalties, and where permitted under the law, authorities should consider action against licences or utility connections. With expectations building around the Blue Line Metro, the big question remains: can the project meet its revised timelines? The Nagawara–Hebbal stretch continues to raise concerns again. During our ground visit, engineers at site who did not wish to be quoted pointed to multiple challenges including utility shifting, traffic management issues, design revisions, delays and labour shortages. Progress appears particularly slow at Kempapura while activity remains limited at some locations between Veeranapalya-Nagawara. Given the strategic importance of this corridor, perhaps it is time for ನಮ್ಮ ಮೆಟ್ರೋ to undertake a closer review of what is holding back Package 1 and provide commuters with a realistic timeline. To us, Package 1 appears to be the most delayed section of the Blue Line. In hindsight, should this package have been split into smaller contracts to avoid bottlenecks? #BlueLineMetro #NammaMetro #BengaluruMetro #BMRCL #Bengaluru

Consumers who fill petrol or diesel should be cautious and check the meter reading carefully.⛽️ At the Indian Oil Corp Ltd petrol pump — Lakshmamma & Sons, Devegowda Road, RT Nagar, Bengaluru — our cameraman and several customers noticed irregularities while refueling. During the filling process, the meter showed variations of 4, 5, 6, 10, or even 15 ml or more, differing with the amount filled by each consumer. Several consumers questioned the staff, leading to arguments. The manager claimed it was due to gun “calibration” issues. A complaint has been raised with IOCL Bengaluru, and a firm reply is awaited. Interesting how the TV script changes. When footpaths are encroached: “Why are pedestrians forced onto the roads? Why so many accidents?” When authorities remove encroachments: “Why this action?” You can’t demand safe, walkable footpaths and oppose every enforcement drive that makes them possible.
