Revisited the same spot to understand why vehicles are held up from KR Pura Railway Station all the way to Tin Factory. This is almost an everyday problem, especially during peak hours. Travelled by cab 🚕 this time, unlike last time 🛵. It took nearly 20 minutes to cross a 500-metre stretch. This needs more than a traffic intervention. A major surgery is required, otherwise we may only end up increasing the pain. What do you think is going wrong here? BTW something is happening at Stn. Are they widening road at Rly signal?

As many of us keep asking: why does the City Development Minister have to personally come around to check every issue? What are ward engineers and Commissioners there for? Bengaluru East City Corporation If KRDCL isn’t delivering, fix the accountability or replace the agency and make it public the inefficiency of the agency. Basic issues like desilting, asphalting roads, ensuring clean drains and managing traffic diversions at project site should be handled at the zone/field level, not wait for a ministerial inspection. And if engineers aren’t empowered or qualified to address these issues on the ground, how are they executing works in the first place? The Minister’s frustration is understandable but the real question is why the system needs ministerial intervention for routine work.

If larger brands, malls, darshinis, cafés and office complexes have extended onto footpaths or are using them for parking or business, the same rules must apply. No exceptions. A genuine question for urban mobility experts. KR Pura–Mahadevapura–Hoodi & further up to Kadugodi has reasonably wide roads, Metro, Suburban Rail and BMTC connectivity. Yet congestion on this stretch remains intense. We spoke to a few regular commuters and, along the way, some auto/cab drivers who use this stretch every day. Their observation was striking: “Traffic has doubled, not reduced. We know what is happening on the ground.” Is that perception or is there something more to it? If this corridor has multiple public transport options and decent road capacity, what is driving the congestion and more importantly, how can traffic actually be managed on this stretch? Would like to hear from urban mobility experts, traffic engineers and people who regularly use this corridor.

During our ground visit, engineers at site who did not wish to be quoted pointed to multiple challenges including utility shifting, traffic management issues, design revisions, delays and labour shortages. Progress appears particularly slow at Kempapura while activity remains limited at some locations between Veeranapalya-Nagawara. Given the strategic importance of this corridor, perhaps it is time for ನಮ್ಮ ಮೆಟ್ರೋ to undertake a closer review of what is holding back Package 1 and provide commuters with a realistic timeline. To us, Package 1 appears to be the most delayed section of the Blue Line. With traffic restrictions on the Airport Expressway up to Vidyashilp Jn , we’ve received several DMs about the massive jams around Hebbal, Kodigehalli, Byatarayanapura, Jakkur and further towards the airport. Interesting how the TV script changes. When footpaths are encroached: “Why are pedestrians forced onto the roads? Why so many accidents?” When authorities remove encroachments: “Why this action?” You can’t demand safe, walkable footpaths and oppose every enforcement drive that makes them possible.
