On my way to a funeral, and I get stuck at the Pottery Road/Bayview extension with the rail crossing barriers down. Everyone is stuck, nowhere to go. I’ve been sitting here for 25 minutes, others longer. I get hold of Metrolinx, who haven’t communicated anything, and they tell me that it’ll be 30 minutes before somebody arrives on the scene. Now we have vehicles cutting through the barriers. What a joke, and completely unacceptable.

Yesterday, I called out Mayor Chow’s plan to charge Toronto families $10 each for a festival that she promised would be free. For a family of five, that's $50 just to get through the gate. Now, after the backlash, the mayor is scrambling to patch it with some free tickets. But this wouldn't have happened if she kept her promise of a free festival. The point of a FIFA fan fest is that it belongs to the people. These celebrations should be open to everybody, not just the people who can afford the price of admission.

Yesterday, I moved a reasonable and common sense motion designed to give playgrounds back to our kids by clearing encampments near schools, parks and daycares. Rather than listening to parents like Rakshitha and Jennifer, Mayor Chow and her allies on council watered down the motion to address only 5% of encampments across the entire city. That’s not good enough for my family or for yours. It’s time to build a safe and clean city where our kids can thrive. Sign here if you agree 👉
