XB-1 Flight Seven ✅ Today's @boomaero XB-1 test flight went great—new top Mach of 0.8, free of the avionics glitching we saw on previous flight. Looking forward to getting back in the air hopefully one more time before Thanksgiving.

When you nail thrust to weight ratio, you can get off the pad properly.

Our first engine’s entire rotor is now assembled and balanced—with an overall tolerance less than the width of a human hair. In episode 5 of Build Supersonic we walk through how a turbine engine is assembled and balanced (and re-balanced, in our case).

Now that we're actively building a turbine and a turbine factory, we've moved to video updates for our investors. Here is our Q2 investor update, with just one juicy tidbit redacted for now. Hint: there is an Easter egg at the end🥚

Test stand construction nearing completion — should be ready to receive the first turbine in a few weeks.

Three years ago, Symphony was an idea for an idea. Two years ago, Symphony was an idea. So cool to watch concept turn into hardware.

Today marks a big milestone toward the rebirth of supersonic passenger flight. For the first time in decades, a civil supersonic airplane has taken to the skies. The XB-1 met all of its first flight objectives—and we’re only going further, higher, and faster from here.

XB-1 Flight Two was a massive success: gear extended/retracted airborne for the first time, stability issues from Flight One confirmed resolved. No major issues uncovered. Geppetto did a great job at the controls—and we're accelerating Flight Three—likely in a month or so.

Our motto at Boom is: This is Hard. This is Fun. Supersonic jets and power turbines are the hard. This is the fun part.

XB-1 Flight Four ✅ Very successful flight this morning. Airplane performed great, with a new top speed of Mach 0.6 and 2.5G maneuvers. Only lowlight: FES didn’t cooperate for M0.6 test point. So we’re pulling it out and shipping to vendor. Maybe back in the air in 3-4 weeks.

Yesterday, XB-1 set a new top ground speed of 123kts (141mph)… the third high-speed taxi in 48 hours. These tests are now starting to look more like flight, with a T-38 chase aircraft airborne! 1/

XB-1 Flight Two completed just a few minutes ago—aircraft back on the ground safely after a great flight. More video to come later today. Boom creative team is editing furiously as we speak.

So 🔥 to peek inside a jet engine combustor. This is like an afterburner, but it’s not after. Symphony team just confirmed our combustion system works well even in the most challenging corner cases.
