cmon... this is so fun. Prompt here if you want to steal it: Continuous shot with no scene cuts. Camera is traveling forward between trees kanopes and different things are on the tree branches. The light is low, it comes through tall trees and the foliage of leaves casts an interesting patterned shadow and light on to the scene. First we see a tamarin monkey looking very close to the lens, mostly it's face is visible and on of the hand trying to reach through the lens, then a man on his laptop in brown suit and yellow ties with red baseball hat, then a yellow giant snake around a branch, we see the texture of the snake and it's wet skin from a macro view. Then an orangutan taking a selfie then lanterns hanging from the branches then a bunch an area where fluffy clouds mixing with the tree leafs where a plane wreck is smoking and slightly on fire. Handheld documentary style. Natural camera shake. Raw indie film aesthetic. Heavy grain. Natural lighting only. Unpolished, authentic look. Low budget realism. Observational feel.

I don't understand how anyone can be impressed by this. Okay, wow, a machine flickered some photographs together fast enough to trick your eye into seeing movement. Okay, splendid. The fundamental problem with these moving pictures — and why I will never be interested in a cinematograph show, no matter how clever the illusions become — is that I simply have no interest in the stories a machine tells. I don't want to watch a projector's story any more than I want to sit and listen to a phonograph tell me about its hopes and dreams. If the story has no soul behind it, no living actor before you breathing the words, no stage, no real theater — then it lacks the one and only thing that can make it worthwhile or interesting.

TIL The Matrix spent $40M for a 6-minute VFX scene. That means they spent $150,000 per second. Yes, that's per second. If you blink for too long you might have missed a couple million in production. Other major movies spent between $20,000 to $60,000 per second. h/t from the last Corridor Crew video where they ranked the most expensive VFX shots.
