If they weren’t using computer use which would’ve been extremely slow they were likely manipulating the project programmatically through C# and/or Unity’s YAML-serialized scene files which again models are pretty bad at. So this is a solid upgrade from 5.6 - from what I’ve seen unity!

I absolutely love how Alex pressed Sam on whether OpenAI thinks they’ve already hit AGI internally, and what he actually considers the difference between AGI and ASI. Sam’s answer was basically that declaring AGI doesn’t really mean anything anymore, because every lab and every person uses a different definition. He makes the good point that if you went back to 2020 and showed people a system that could code, help start a company, discover new science and give you a 20 minute win across basically every part of your life, most people probably would’ve called that AGI. I personally still don’t think we’ve hit it, but I agree with his broader point that treating AGI like some single finish line is becoming increasingly meaningless. The way he describes ASI is exactly how I would want him to, AGI is basically a milestone somewhere on the curve, while superintelligence is this continuous ramp of increasing capability that may never really have a final “we won” moment. And importantly, Sam says he sees no sign that this exponential capability curve is slowing down. A few quotes I liked as well: “We’re building AI, but it’s a thing you’re always building. It’s not an end state anymore.” “I don’t want to say we’ve declared victory on the AGI point and moved on.” “The important part of any of this is not any milestone, any term. It’s that we are on this exponential of increasing capabilities and potential.”

Kimi K3 was already in internal evaluation by April/May, before Fable 5 had been available long enough to be a plausibly distilled. I’ll wait for the evidence from the USG if they’ll publish it. However Kimi already outperformed Fable on BrowserComp, so if K3.1 beats Fable 5 on coding benchmarks, are people going to claim it distilled Fable 6? Obviously it’s not only distillation here. Saying “mythos” would have made a lot more sense but fable ?

I literally just watched GPT-5.5 via codex beat an Amazon customer associate in real time. 💀 I asked it to get me a refund, and I watched it navigate the settings, cancel the subscription, then it went step further into the help page. I thought it was going to request a phone call (which would prompt me to take over) Instead, it opened: “Chat with an associate now.” That’s when I sat up on my couch because I knew it was going to get real The agent said: “Your subscription is active.” And GPT-5.5 immediately explained that it only shows as active because cancellation leaves access through the billing period, but that I wanted it stopped now and refunded. And my jaw just hung open, it was the first time I watched sand handle a customer service agent for me in real time Once the agent confirmed the refund, it just ended the chat no mercy no thank you LMAO First time I’ve watched a human customer service agent get outmaneuvered by AI in real time. And it made me 15$! almost paid for itself in 5 minutes

Anthropic had 16 AI agents build a C compiler from scratch. 100k lines, compiles the Linux kernel, $20k, 2 weeks. To put that in perspective GCC took thousands of engineers over 37 years to build. (Granted from 1987 - however) One researcher and 16 AI agents just built a compiler that passes 99% of GCC's own torture test suite, compiles FFmpeg, Redis, PostgreSQL, QEMU and runs Doom. They say they "(mostly) walked away." But that "mostly" is doing heavy lifting. No human wrote code but the researcher constantly redesigned tests, built CI pipelines when agents broke each other's work, and created workarounds when all 16 agents got stuck on the same bug. The human role didn't disappear. It shifted from writing code to engineering the environment that lets AI write code. I don’t know how you could make the point AI is hitting a wall.
