On 2nd June I raised concerns about the security of our electricity grid. I was told by Ed Miliband that I was scaremongering. Since then I have been contacted by a whistleblower within our grid operator, the NESO. They allege that operators are being instructed to hide information that shows the grid is not being operated securely. Worse, they allege that Corporate Affairs interefered with operational decisions to stabilise the grid - risking blackouts to protect NESO's reputation. Despite this coming from within the operator, the Minister doubled down on calling this ‘scaremongering’ rather than wanting to know the truth. This Government is asleep at the wheel. They must urgently investigate these allegations.

Watch this. We currently pay £1.5 billion a year to switch wind farms off when it's too windy. Rachel Fletcher from Octopus Energy has just told Parliament that could soar to £10 BILLION by 2030. Ed Miliband is writing cheques for wind farm developers before the grid can move their energy to where it’s needed. This is a political choice and it is making electricity expensive. Government needs to wake up to what their plans are doing to our energy prices and make electricity cheap.

Last night we voted against Ed Miliband’s new Net Zero target. Why? Watch this. Not a single Labour MP could say what it will mean for the cost of food or energy for our constituents - or for British jobs and industry. They’re going to spend hundreds of billions of pounds of YOUR money and they didn’t even seem to care what it will mean for you. Parliament should be better than this.

We just forced a vote in Parliament to stop the Puberty Blocker trial. The Government voted it down. These children are perfectly healthy. They need our care and support - not to be experimented on with life-changing drugs. Expertly argued by my colleague Dr Caroline Johnson MP

It’s time to end the de facto ban on air conditioning. Only 3% of British homes have air con compared to 90% of homes in the US, or Japan. We need to overturn our miserabilist approach to energy which says we alone can’t have air con or AI. Let’s Make Britain Cool Again 🇬🇧

Last year Britain lost a THIRD of its refineries. Why? A Carbon Tax on industry that Ed Miliband doubled. We won’t need any less petrol, diesel, jet fuel, ceramics or chemicals - we'll just rely more on foreign imports. We must axe the Carbon Tax and save British industry.

This is shocking. NESO have confirmed to the Times that the initial assessment of 23 June *was* that “constraints were breached and system security was compromised.” Exactly as my whistleblowers alleged. And yet in this leaked recording the CEO dismissed ‘my’ allegations as not true. A senior manager said whistleblowers had ‘let down’ the company. When NESO had documents which showed *in black and white* that this was worth investigating. Then they tried to deny they had criticised the whistleblowers… before the recording was released to show they had. We await the final findings of what happened but there is clearly a cover-up culture at NESO. I have had more brickbats thrown at me this last few weeks than I have ever had. But the whistleblowers have shown true courage in the national interest. We must match it by taking a clear-eyed look at grid stability and how NESO is being run.

This week the Lib Dems voted for Labour’s new, stricter Net Zero target. I asked their energy spokesperson why replacing British production with dirtier foreign imports helps climate change… …and why they blindly trust the Climate Change Committee when their offshore wind costings were wrong *by a factor of three*. All I got back was ‘but the Climate Change Committee said to do it.’ Then they all voted for the new target anyway. Parliament cannot keep outsourcing its thinking to unelected, unaccountable bodies. Especially when their numbers are wildly wrong.

Oh dear... I think I touched a nerve👀 Ed Miliband said I was ‘scaremongering’ because I asked who was responsible in the event of a blackout and what repercussions there would be. That’s because on the 2nd May our grid suffered a significant, sudden frequency loss. This could result in nationwide blackouts. Ed’s policies are making our grid more unstable, more unpredictable, and more expensive to balance. Who pays? You, the consumer. And weirdly, he doesn’t seem to know who is accountable. Ofgem? NESO? DESNZ? We need to know who is in charge and what accountability they will face for a more unreliable and costly electricity grid. It shouldn’t be this hard to answer a simple question.

An absolute must watch. Energy bosses have just told Parliament that EVEN IF gas prices halved by 2030, the soaring policy costs of renewables would mean bills go UP. Ed Miliband’s plan means more grid, more expensive renewable subsidies, more paying wind farms to turn off.

Many couples work hard, but cannot afford to have another child. Yet from this week, they’ll be paying more in tax so that couples on welfare with four, five, or six children receive more in benefits. This is not fair. It is not compassionate to make welfare pay more than work.

If Burnham wants to cut the cost of living, he must axe Miliband’s Fertiliser Tax. If food is more expensive to grow, it’s more expensive to buy. Making fertiliser 25% more expensive will put up the price of meat, bread, milk and butter - most of a weekly shop. It’s got to go.
