Newly surfaced video appears to show the altercation that unfolded moments before a fatal shooting at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Police say officers responded to the mall’s food court around 5:20 p.m. Saturday, where they found a 20-year-old man dead, a 19-year-old woman suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, and a 22-year-old Detroit man with a concealed pistol license at the scene. He was taken into custody and is cooperating with investigators. According to police, the shooter and the deceased had been involved in an earlier confrontation inside a food court bathroom. Investigators say the victim and another unidentified man later allegedly attacked the shooter in the common area before the encounter escalated into gunfire. Brown says he was there earlier in the evening and personally spoke with the woman involved, remembering her dancing, enjoying herself and spending time alone that night. Brown recalls motorcycles surrounding her Slingshot and says he even joked with her that she might be stuck there because the bikes had her blocked in. According to Brown, she laughed and decided to sit down and wait. He says he ultimately left the location roughly 30 minutes before the incident took place and therefore did not witness the actual confrontation. After later learning what happened, Brown reflects on his interaction with her and questions whether the situation could have been prevented if someone had helped clear a path for her vehicle and get her safely out of the parking lot.
