The way OPPENHEIMER utilized IMAX for intimate moments like this is a big reason why the film felt so otherworldly and big, even when it was just a shot of Cillian Murphy staring at a painting.

Rewatching BATMAN BEGINS and I can't help but notice modern superhero films rarely have this kind of epic sense of grandeur anymore. BEGINS partially rocks because the first hour simply rules and we don't even see Bale as Batman until over an hour into the film.

Christopher Nolan describes this scene as his proudest moment as a director. I’ll never forget watching this for the first time in 2011 as a prologue in front of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL at the Navy Pier IMAX. The audience erupted into applause at the end.

Two years ago OPPENHEIMER was released in theaters. This moment in IMAX 70mm was life changing. I’ll never forget the chills that went down my spine. Happy anniversary to one of my favorite films of all time.

The IMAX prologue for THE DARK KNIGHT still sends chills down my spine. I’ll never forget watching this in front of I AM LEGEND. When the first frame hits in 1.43, the entire audience gasped. Still the best opening to any superhero movie ever.

Me reacting to the rumor Paramount destroyed the IMAX 70mm prints of INTERSTELLAR and the planned re-release is cancelled.

DUNKIRK is the antithetical war movie, avoiding big speeches, generals in rooms discussing strategy, and instead focuses on the terror of dive bomber screams and deafening artillery. Nolan draws from Alfred Hitchcock & David Lean to deliver one of the best war films ever.

This would not have had the same impact watching it for the first time on Netflix.

I didn’t instantly fall in love with TENET. However, compelled to understand why, I rewatched it several times. Until I realized I love it for moments like this, when the senses are overwhelmed by massive, chaotic spectacle. An inverted car chase? Yes. I do love this.

Yes, I’m one of those that loves MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III. It’s so relentlessly high octane that it literally runs through the plot, but it helps redefine the series and the relationships around Ethan, plus Philip Seymour Hoffman is utterly fantastic.

Rewatched MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT. This is the most straight forward "action thriller" of the franchise. It's also the M:I film where the Christopher Nolan influences feel very prominent, from the editing to Lorne Balfe's incredible score. The most thrilling M:I film.

I can’t get Hans Zimmer’s love theme from DUNE: PART TWO out of my head. I’ve been humming it ever since I saw the film. Hans really knocked it out of the park with PART TWO.

AD ASTRA is one of the most underrated science-fiction films of the last several years. James Gray's contemplative, at times surrealistic voyage into deep space is both beautifully minimalist and emotionally immense. This sequence in IMAX was quietly immersive and awe-inspiring.

I rewatched SUPERMAN RETURNS last night. I'm in the minority of people that genuinely enjoy this film, but I still think it was a mistake cutting the "Return to Krypton" sequence. I honestly think the first 35 minutes could be re-edited and it would be a much stronger film.
