I was watching back a few bits from older games for a post to compare the current state of the midfield with the older one, but instead I am just posting this. Watch Fabinho and Gini in this clip. Look at Fabinho and Gini: - They stay close to each other - Fabinho covers for Matip (defensive awareness) - Fabinho anticipates where the ball is going to stop the attack (and isn't scared to challenge) - Then he anticipates the header and heads it to Gini (Both close to each other to maintain options) - Gini gets the ball, moves it quickly to Fabinho. - Fabinho turns quickly and passes forwards Both stopped 2 potential breaks, and started a new attack for us. Being a midfielder is about being smart. Not running around. Compare that to yesterday. Night and day.
