Labour have changed the rules to allow civil servants to spend unlimited office hours as trade union activists - and scrapped the transparency requirement, so we don’t know how much time or money this costs the taxpayer. Reform will end this scandal. More here

The MOD has 50,000 homes - a tenth of them empty. Rather than using spare housing for Afghans and asylum seekers we should be prioritising homeless British Army veterans. Lab, Con & LibDems today all agreed the decision by Weds Mids police to ban the Jewish fans is wrong, disgraceful etc, but nothing they can do because ‘operational independence’. Only Reform UK will change the law to put the police under the control of elected politicians.

Terrible speech from the (hitherto much admired) ‘Tory’ historian Andrew Roberts - combining a Whiggish argument about 'the right side of history' with explicit repudiation of Christian teaching in favour of the eugenicist ethics of pagan Rome. This isn't conservatism.

Welcome rhetoric from Govt but here’s the difference with Reform: We won’t give illegal immigrants the right to stay for min 2.5 years, to study & work here, & to bring their families. And we won’t stay in the ECHR which stops deportation and makes a mockery of sovereignty.

Of course the PM’s position is untenable - but even more important we need to restore the fundamental principle that civil servants answer to ministers, and ministers to parliament. We only know about this vetting scandal because the Guardian exposed the fact officials didn’t tell the PM, and the PM didn’t ask, and then misled the House. Blame applies equally and it all needs to change.

This morning the Leadbeater Bill committee voted to let Clause 1 go through unamended - having rejected safeguards to protect the mentally ill, disabled people, those influenced or encouraged by others or those seeking assisted suicide to save their family money. We were told at 2R the committee would improve and strengthen the bill. Not so far.
