Forget everything else, Mass Effect Andromeda's biggest crime was giving this guy an audible buttery chocolate voice, the most detailed facial model in the game, badass N7 lore, but didn't make him the main character. Worst still, they killed him off in the first 14 god damn seconds.

The Stand-off with Wrex in Mass Effect 1 was peek gaming. The reason it hit so hard was that never before in a video game (or never like this) were you thrown into a contentious but understandable and organic situation - where a beloved companion must be put down by you (or your companion) or not, based off your choices. 1⃣One you have to make knowing his reasons are justified. It's about the fate of his entire species, not just some random squabble. 2⃣One that can go catastrophically wrong if you haven't helped him out prior or got high enough charm or intimidation. 3⃣One you have to make after the game gives you plenty of opportunity to develop a bond with the little guy. 4⃣One you have to make not understanding the full weight of your choice yet. The loss of Wrex really hurts in ME2, and ME3 and you are almost locked out of the best ending. Just look at the conversation. After Shepard gives Wrex a real reason to listen, he does. There is a pause, and the silence is palpable. I could almost feel the voice actor in the booth swirling with the weight of it all - even though he said nothing. I've never felt tension like this prior in gaming, and from that moment on I was a life long fan.

There are two kinds of Mass Effect fans. Those who bully the Geth... and those who shouldn't vote 😇

This may be all the female companions in Exodus. What do you think? Phaedra: A blind companion infected by a celestial virus. She uses technology and drones to see, and her abilities seem to be evolving. Fast paced jargon reminiscent of Mordin. Elise Charroux: A blunt, no-nonsense ‘Sleeper’ from 23rd century Earth, Elise is an experienced mercenary, weapons expert, and former gang member. She seems to fight primarily in a powerful mech suit. Salt: An awakened octopus. Smart as she is deadly, pilots a modified mech/environmental suit into battle. Before you ask, no, you can not romance the octopus. Last we have two mystery companions. No doubt they'll be officially revealed at a later date, but the top one is seen in mission briefings on your ship, and the next is seen crying in your arms and piloting your ship with you. Will all of these be able to aid you in combat? Another mystery but it seems unlikely. Without aliens will Exodus's companions be as interesting as other successful scifi titles?

I don't know what I'm more excited for - Exodus or The Expanse. Someone help me!

A problem with Mass Effect is no one wants to get their crew-mates killed. But letting it happen leads to some interesting moments. Here's Udina fabricating fake news about Shepard killing the councilor. But to see this you need to make sure: 1. Thane dies in ME2 AND 2. You let Kirrahe die in ME1. Then the Salarian Councilor gets killed by Kai-fucking-leng & you get framed.

We wake up every day in a world where the Mass Effect trilogy exists, and that's pretty fucking rad.
