The poor people that booked this sailing before Disney invited all these influencers on for free and made it the Believe reveal. 😆 No shade at all the real news sites that were invited. On this day in 2001, following the morning terrorist attacks on the Pentagon, New York City's World Trade Center, and in the air over Pennsylvania, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort in California closed for the remainder of the day. Walt Disney World would begin closing shortly after 10 am. Cast members across all four parks were instructed to hold hands and form a human chain or "wall" to calmly herd guests toward the hubs and exits without causing mass panic. Guests were initially told only that the parks were closing due to "circumstances beyond our control" to prevent chaos, though news quickly spread via cell phones as people exited to the resort buses. All the resort hotels remain open and provide accommodations to guests who are unable to leave. Phone charges are suspended so that guests can reach family. The closure marks only the second time Disneyland has locked its gates in its 56-year history due to a national tragedy. The first time followed the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November 1963. At Disneyland Resort, food and beverage stations remain open at no charge for guests who are on property. AMC Theaters at Downtown Disney show free Disney films for stranded Resort guests. Due to the time difference, the California theme parks have been able to close before any guest can enter. Michael Eisner released a statement to Cast Members explaining the Disney closings. He ends his note with these words: "Finally, let me say our company around the world will continue to operate in this sometimes violent world in which we live, offering products that reach to the higher and more positive side of the human equation." It’s honestly insane how different EPCOT is from 40 years ago. Like, unrecognizable. Here’s a segment from the 1986 documentary Walt Disney: A Dream Come True where they tour around Future World. Almost EVERYTHING in this clip is either gone, or has changed in a big way. Man, I really wish I could’ve experienced EPCOT in the 80’s. 🌐

Ok, I finally saw it in person. We didn’t go in December when we were here so I did it today. Was it great? Not really. Was it hot garbage? Not really. It was just fine. But you know what I did notice? Families and their kids laughing out loud and having a great time instead of screaming like they did when it was Tough To Be A Bug. So I guess take that as a win? If guests like it, that’s all that matters.
