This is what happens when one man and one party spend years turning fear and hate of those different than them into a political weapon. Racism/sexism are not political weapons. Those who use them as such do so because they have nothing of their own to run on. It creates fear and uncertainty. And that’s the point. We’ve been here before. JFK was questioned about whether his Catholic faith meant his allegiance belonged to the Pope rather than the Constitution. It seems silly now, but it wasn’t then. Then it was women. For generations, women were told they weren’t fit to lead, and when Hillary Clinton ran for president, Trump made her gender part of the attack. He called her unfit, mocked her, and worked to undermine her credibility. The message was familiar: some people should have to prove they belong in positions of power, while others are simply assumed to belong there because they’re white men. Even though they may be less qualified. Now they’re calling us communists. Unironically doing so while the Trump administration keeps expanding government control and interfering with the rights and freedoms of Americans. This is what Trump and the Republican Party do. They pit us against each other so that we don’t look at what they’re doing. It’s their only play. Meanwhile, we have real questions to ask about corruption, abuses of power, constitutional violations and the conduct of the people running this country. Those are the questions that need to be asked. So start asking them.

So now the Trump administration is sending out one-time $500 checks to people who bought their health insurance through and paid the full price because they didn’t qualify for taxpayer subsidies. In other words, people who’s income is roughly 400% above poverty and could already afford to pay full price for their health insurance are getting a $500 check from the president. And guess when those checks started showing up? October 1. Weeks before the midterm election. The checks come with a letter from Trump lying about why you’re getting your $500. And here’s the really interesting part: this isn’t being distributed evenly across the country. Of the roughly $475 million being sent out, 71% of it, or $339 million, is going to people in just 13 states. Those 13 states happen to be major midterm battlegrounds. They contain eight of the nine Senate races and 10 of the 12 governors’ races that nonpartisan analysts consider the most competitive. Call it whatever you want. I’ll call it what it is: a bribe.

An off-duty ICE agent from Texas was found sleeping on a Fresno family’s lawn around 3 a.m. Police say he appeared intoxicated, assaulted a 72-year-old man, then attacked his daughter when she intervened. The father shot him, fearing for their safety. The agent is hospitalized and facing felony assault charges. The father faces no charges. Federal agents are supposed to uphold the law, not wake up from a drunken stupor in a stranger’s yard and assault the people living there.

An ICE agent scanned the wrong license plate, chased the wrong man, and ended up shooting Julio Sosa-Celis through his own front door. DHS’s first story: Sosa-Celis attacked agents with a broom and snow shovel. City surveillance video proved that was false — the whole struggle lasted about 12 seconds. DHS admitted its agents gave “untruthful” sworn testimony. Charges against Sosa-Celis were dropped with prejudice. The agent, Christian Castro, is now charged with 4 counts of assault + falsely reporting a crime. He fled to Texas. Greg Abbott is refusing to extradite him. Minnesota’s AG just sued Abbott to force it. A Republican governor is actively shielding a federal agent from facing trial for shooting an innocent man and lying about it under oath. Texas, you have a job to do in November. And then justice can finally be delivered.

An ICE officer replied to a Craigslist ad for a 13-year-old. Over three days, he texted her about sex acts, what he’d pay, and his job — “a cop.” He drove to a hotel in Othello, WA to meet her, carrying his ICE badge, two bottles of Viagra, and $4,075 in cash. It was a sting. Koby Don Williams was arrested on the spot. At trial, he argued two contradictory defenses — that he didn’t think she was a minor, and that he was there to “rescue” her. The jury believed neither. Convicted and sentenced to 135 months, over 11 years, plus 15 years of supervised release. He spent 22 years as an ICE officer.

Border Patrol pulls over a 20-year-old in Slidell, LA for “white lights on the back of your vehicle… your reverse lights are on the whole time.” Then, before writing a single ticket, the agent asks: “What’s your citizenship?” The driver, Alan Laureano, was born in Slidell. His passenger — his 13-year-old stepbrother — was born in Pearl River, Louisiana. Both are U.S. citizens. Didn’t matter. Twice, on camera, the agent tells Laureano he’s going to “check” the kid and “if he’s illegal, I will take him.” He tries to open the 13-year-old’s car door himself. Laureano locks it and rolls the window down instead. The agent then interrogates the child directly — full name, spelling, date of birth, birthplace — while Laureano stands his ground and refuses to hand over his own ID, telling the agent he doesn’t have the right to stop him over a taillight. Immigration attorney Michael Gahagan reviewed the video and called it what it is: “an illegal detention.” Border Patrol isn’t authorized to detain someone over a traffic violation — they need independent reasonable suspicion of an immigration violation, and that has to come first, not get invented after the stop. DHS’s after-the-fact statement claims the stop was based on “reasonable suspicion or probable cause of federal law violations” — but doesn’t say what that violation was. WWL Louisiana asked twice. No answer either time. This is the pattern: pretext stop, pivot to citizenship, threaten a kid with removal before confirming anything. It only looks “routine” until you’re the one being asked to prove you belong in the country you were born in.

Now we know why Ken Paxton and his moron buddies were pushing the “Where is James Talarico?” narrative this weekend. The timeline fell apart. Federal laws were possibly broken. The smear collapsed. The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that Paxton spent New Year’s Eve 2024 in Dubai with two men indicted in a massive U.S. health care fraud case. One donated $190,000 to Paxton’s campaign, including $25,000 after his indictment. The party also included Paxton’s girlfriend, Tracy Duhon, while he was still married to Angela Paxton. You know, the one who humiliated herself in a political ad urging Texans to vote for her husband (by voting down ticket), even while divorcing him over this exact “alleged” adultery. Apparently, keeping the seat in the family matters more than having a shred of self-respect. And the Dubai party is only part of the story. A joint investigation by ProPublica and The Texas Tribune found that Paxton has taken nearly 1,000 such trips with a state-funded security detail since taking office in 2015. The bill to Texas taxpayers? $3.3 million. Even during the three months he was suspended from office while awaiting his impeachment trial in 2023, he took at least 17 trips with state police accompanying him. Texas Taxpayers paid the bill. And this is not the first time Paxton has faced serious allegations. He was impeached by the Texas House over accusations of bribery and abuse of office, indicted on state securities-fraud charges, and sued by whistleblowers who alleged retaliation after reporting misconduct. Trump was even reportedly warned damaging revelations about Paxton were coming. He endorsed him anyway. Because he’s desperate. So while Paxton and his allies were busy trying to manufacture a scandal around James Talarico, voters were left with more questions about Paxton’s own record, his associates, his travel, his ex-wife, and the money flowing into his campaign. Texas taxpayers deserve answers. Texas voters deserve better.

“I can’t live,” says the ICE agent facing two felony assault charges after allegedly pointing his Glock at two people in a car on a Minnesota highway. According to prosecutors, Gregory Morgan was driving an unmarked SUV on the highway shoulder to bypass traffic. After a confrontation with a Cadillac, he allegedly pulled alongside the car and pointed his gun at its occupants. They didn’t even know he was an ICE agent. Now he’s crying in court about being “forced” to do a job he didn’t want. You know who can’t live? Renee Good. Alex Pretti. And the others killed by this administration’s gestapo that he STILL works for. Their families don’t get a tearful day in court to undo what happened. He says he didn’t want the assignment. He could have refused to continue that job. Instead, he went to Minnesota, broke traffic laws and assaulted other drivers, and now he wants us to feel sorry for him. Fuck that. Save the tears. Nobody gives a shit.

Everyone saw the latest disaster with new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, this morning? She calls herself a lawyer. She even has a law degree from Pepperdine and reportedly served as general counsel for a California nonprofit. But according to an investigation by Judd Legum at Popular Information, searches of all 50 states and D.C. turned up NO evidence she was ever licensed to practice law. Ever. When asked where she’s admitted to the bar, the White House didn’t provide an answer. A law degree isn’t a law license. If she’s a licensed attorney, proving it should be easy. Otherwise, the California state bar would like a word. I’d say this disaster beats Scaramucci.

Their only crime was doing their job legally and by the book. Patel didn’t care. Now, nine FBI employees with more than 100 years of combined experience are suing after being fired for their work on the Mar-a-Lago classified documents investigation. The administration accused them of political bias and “weaponizing” the FBI. But look at their actual records. They worked counterintelligence and counterespionage cases, helped recover American hostages, investigated the Boston Marathon bombing, and worked on the investigation into the 2024 assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. They didn’t volunteer to investigate Trump. According to their lawsuit, they were assigned the case as part of their regular duties. One of them, Harrison Kaufman, had even been publicly praised by Kash Patel for his investigative work before being fired. Now the nine say they were dismissed without an internal investigation, notice, a hearing, or an opportunity to appeal. And less than 48 hours before the firings, an agent on Patel’s advisory team allegedly requested access to the case files containing all nine employees’ names. One plaintiff was managing dozens of Iranian counterintelligence cases when he was fired, without an opportunity to transfer his work or intelligence to colleagues. The administration says these employees lacked impartiality. Their work histories tell a much different story. More than a century of combined public service. Nine careers abruptly ended. The public deserves answers. And so do they.

Remember when we warned that SAVE Act would create unnecessary barriers for eligible voters? The response was always the same: “Just get the paperwork.” Well, Florida is showing us what “just get the paperwork” actually looks like. A Florida woman and Army veteran found that out when she ran into problems getting a REAL ID because she couldn’t produce a marriage record from 50 years ago to connect her name history. Think about that. A citizen and Army veteran stuck because one old document was missing. Now expand that across the country. Millions upon millions of Americans have identity histories that don’t fit into one perfect government record. Marriage, adoption, divorce, immigration, court-ordered name changes, and simple clerical errors all create gaps. The SAVE Act would add more opportunities for those gaps to become barriers. As is being proven in Florida. Republicans have been lying to you.

The Pentagon secretly put three MAGA influencers on the government payroll. Retired Air Force Col. Rob Maness (135K followers), retired Army Col. Kurt Schlichter (620K followers), and retired Army Col. Thomas Anderson, who writes as “Cynical Publius” (320K followers), all had active .civ government email addresses assigned to the office of Anthony Tata, undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness — running PR for Hegseth and going after his critics, none of it disclosed to their audiences. Pentagon spokesman Joel Valdez refused to say whether any of them draw a taxpayer-funded salary, what their actual duties are, or how long the jobs last. This from the department that calls itself “the most transparent Defense Department ever.” One of these three even has a documented history of lying with a national platform: in 2021, Kurt Schlichter falsely claimed the National School Boards Association wanted parents who protest school policy labeled “domestic terrorists” — AP rated it false. Now he’s inside the Pentagon on an undisclosed assignment, amplifying Hegseth’s message. And remember, retirement doesn’t erase accountability — this April, this same Pentagon invoked UCMJ Article 133/134 against retired Navy officer Sen. Mark Kelly for criticizing Trump. Same uniform, same rules, opposite treatment: retired officers get threatened with court-martial for criticizing this administration, and quietly put on the payroll for cheerleading it. Those three retired officers will be disciplined after Hegseth is impeached. And this time it will be the legit. Hope going against your oath was worth it.

Diesel hit $6.37 a gallon on Friday. A year ago it was about $3.70. Ground beef is $6.89 a pound. The economy added just 29,000 jobs in September when economists expected 84,000, and July was revised to a loss. So what is the President of the United States worried about this morning? That Fox & Friends didn't cover his rallies. He wrote a 279-word Truth Social post about it. He said Fox ignored his "packed house" in Ohio and his "sold out" crowds in Alabama, Texas, and Oklahoma, and that he's done watching "right now." Alabama was about half empty. He knew. He said so. He voted for it anyway. Tommy Tuberville, now the frontrunner for Alabama governor, privately told the Washington Examiner back in mid-2025 that the House’s SNAP provision would “financially hammer” red states like Alabama — his exact words were “just don’t bankrupt us.” Weeks later he voted YES on the Big Beautiful Bill anyway, then put out a statement calling it the road to a “Great” America. Ever since, he and his fellow Republicans, have spent a year blaming SNAP “fraud” for a mess their own votes helped create. Here’s the receipt on that “fraud” claim: Alabama’s own DHR Commissioner, Nancy Buckner, said it herself — error rates aren’t fraud, fraud is a tiny sliver of it. Michael Ledger, CEO of Feeding the Gulf Coast, backed that up too, telling that fraud only runs “1 percent to 2 percent” of what’s actually being penalized here. So the “SNAP is overrun with fraud” line Tuberville’s been running for over a year doesn’t hold up against the numbers his own state is working with. What it actually means for Alabama: a 9.52% payment error rate puts the state in the 10% cost-share bracket, which comes out to roughly $174 million state lawmakers have to find in the FY2027 budget. If they can’t or won’t find it, the options on the table are cutting people off SNAP or dropping the program entirely — real consequences for a program error rate that has nothing to do with fraud. Tuberville’s team is now quietly working with the state agency to bring that error rate down before the bill comes due, and lobbying alongside Katie Britt for a two-year delay. None of this is happening to Alabama. Tuberville voted for it, knowing what it would do, then spent a year pointing at “fraud” instead of his own vote. Now he’s the frontrunner for governor, running to fix a hole in the state budget that he dug himself.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin: “One thing that I love about numbers, and I love about facts, is they don’t lie.” He claimed 14,576 noncitizens were registered to vote in Pennsylvania. Governor Shapiro’s response: “If you have any real evidence of this, provide it to us.” He added that Pennsylvania takes every claim of illegal voting seriously and refers credible leads straight to prosecutors — DHS just needed to show its work. They never did. A month later, Pennsylvania’s Secretary of State Al Schmidt says DHS still hasn’t handed over the methodology or data behind that number. Schmidt also pointed out DHS’s own SAVE database has a long history of misidentifying naturalized U.S. citizens as noncitizens — it’s the same flawed system behind these claims in every state. And in a closed-door meeting on August 13, DHS’s own staff admitted to Pennsylvania officials they did not have “high confidence” that those 14,576 people were noncitizens improperly registered at all. One thing I love about facts: they can be verified. Markwayne Mullin is full of shit.
