I was deeply moved by this speech, given by President Dr Mohammad Usman Suleiman, Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors NARD. As a Consultant, I acknowledge that, It is easy for Medical Elders to gradually forget the rigours of residency training, as we climb higher and higher. However, we must REMEMBER: Burnt out Doctors are DANGEROUS. Doctor Suleiman is right: “How are you sure Nigerian Doctors, will be at their best, to see Nigerians? It is safer to keep Nigerians away, from these exhausted Doctors” Protecting Doctors, is protecting Patients. Once again, I plead with the Government and our Medical Elders: Help us resolve this crisis asap. Please.
