Wrapped still surprises me every year…not because it exists (I obviously knew it was coming 😅) but because of how huge it’s become. What started as a small idea over a decade ago has grown to more than 11 trillion minutes of global listening this year alone, and a moment hundreds of millions of people screenshot, joke about (yes, even at our expense), and share every year. And this year’s experience is our biggest yet. I’m especially excited that for the first time, you’ll see your top album of the year. Fun fact: album listening on Spotify has increased nearly 35% on Spotify in 2025, compared to 2024 - very cool to see that growth. Huge thanks to the teams who bring this to life.

When I was younger, I remember making and swapping mixtapes and CDs for friends. The people around me are how I found so much great new music. And while it’s been a minute since I last made a mixtape 😂 I’ve never stopped sharing music with the people I care about. That sharing has just become a lot easier via Messages on Spotify. Starting this week, you'll be able to send songs, playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks directly to friends and family, all within the app. I’m excited about what this unlocks. Because when sharing becomes part of the listening experience, discovery becomes more personal, more immediate, and a whole lot easier. Curious to hear what you all think.

One of my favorite things about our work at Spotify is to see and learn from users behaviors and to see what we can develop better. Just a few years ago, we noticed that publishers and fans in Germany were uploading podcasts and audiobooks to Spotify which really got us thinking about innovation within that space. Now, Audiobooks in Premium is officially launching in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. Lots of features available but excited for you guys to check out Resume Points so you can pick up right where you left off. Can’t wait to hear what you think.

The answer: nearly half, $4.5bn was generated by independent artists. This is a major shift for the industry, showing the changing landscape. I decided to do a video on this and some of the other payout questions I am getting. Let me know what you think.

Our Q4 results are out and Spotify hit some huge milestones, including our first full year of profitability. I’ll share more detail on our investor call shortly, as well as a bit of what’s coming in 2025. Also - Spotify’s co-presidents Alex Norström & Gustav Söderström will be joining to share their POV, so look forward to a full house. Thanks to all Spotify teams around the world for a great year.
