🤯 This clip is from Nevada 1959, part of a series of test by the Department of Energy and the US army between 1951 and 1963. The soldiers were in foxholes at the edge of the blast radius to see the effects of the atomic bomb on trenches. Some soldiers got 1st degree burns. Some livestock and sheep were positioned closer and had third degree burns and were permanently blinded. Vegetation up to 2km away was still smouldering. And the sand beneath ground zero had fused into a green glass called “trinitite”, basically a new element 😱
