Instead he enrolled in culinary school in New York to become a chef.. His timing was brutal.. He graduated in 2001.. Right as 9/11 happened.. He lived steps from the World Trade Center.. So he grabbed his new skills and spent six weeks cooking for firefighters and rescue workers at Ground Zero.. 10 to 12 hour days in the wreckage.. Feeding the people pulling bodies from the rubble.. He said that experience changed everything.. Watching exhausted workers find comfort in a shared meal convinced him that food was his actual life's purpose.. He moved to Colorado and started building farm-to-table restaurants that sourced straight from local farmers.. Then in 2010 came the second turning point.. He broke his neck in a tubing accident and was temporarily paralyzed for three days.. He called it a near-death experience.. And it pushed him even harder into his mission.. He started a nonprofit that built outdoor learning gardens in hundreds of underserved schools.. Reaching hundreds of thousands of kids.. He co-founded an urban farming company growing food inside shipping containers in cities.. Each one producing the equivalent of two acres of farmland.. 🚨 Do you understand what SCAM ALTMAN has been doing? He made a crypto called Worldcoin that scans your eyeballs with a metal orb in exchange for tokens. The token hit $11.74 in 2024. Today $WLD is $0.28. Down 97%. His foundation dumped $65 million worth last week at $0.27 each. In Kenya they found the project exploiting extreme poverty to get people to scan their eyes for worthless crypto. In Berlin gangs were forcing homeless people and refugees to get scanned so they could pocket the rewards. Thailand raided a site and ordered 1.2 million scans deleted. Spain, Portugal, Hong Kong, Germany all banned or investigating. Snowden warned everyone. They say they delete the scans. They don't. They keep the digital fingerprint of your eyes forever in a privately owned database. In 2015 Elon Musk gave $38 million to co-found OpenAI with Altman. The deal was clear. Keep it nonprofit. Keep it open source. Build AI for humanity. Altman took the money. Turned it into a closed source for-profit company valued at $840 billion. Microsoft got 27%. Musk didn't see a dollar. Musk tried buying it back for $97.4 billion. Altman said on camera "no thank you but we will buy twitter for $9.74 billion." Asked about Musk in an interview he said "his whole life is from a position of insecurity. I don't think he's a happy person." Called the lawsuit "this week's episode." He's also investing in his own chip company that sells chips to OpenAI. Investing in energy companies that power OpenAI. Buying from himself. Musk filed a $134 billion lawsuit. Most people called him jealous. Then his lawyers found the personal diary of Greg Brockman, one of the original OpenAI co-founders. A 2017 entry reads "I cannot believe that we committed to non-profit if three months later we're doing b-corp then it was a lie." He admitted the nonprofit promise was never real. Two years before they officially went for-profit. The judge said there's "ample evidence." Sent it to a jury. Trial starts April 27. Musk said he'll donate every dollar to charity. Altman laughed on camera. Called Musk insecure. Called the lawsuit a joke. His own co-founder's diary says the nonprofit was never real. A jury decides in 28 days. And it reads like science fiction.. Except he's dead serious.. And he has the credentials to back every word.. Here's what he thinks happens in the next 5 to 10 years.. Nearly all infectious disease.. Prevented or cured.. mRNA vaccines already showed us the path.. AI finishes the job.. Most cancer.. Eliminated.. Not just treated.. 95% or greater reduction in both deaths and new cases.. AI designs treatment regimens tailored to the individual genome of each tumor.. Something that's technically possible today but takes enormous human expertise to do.. AI scales it to everyone.. Alzheimer's.. Solved.. He thinks it's exactly the type of problem AI can crack.. Because it requires better measurement tools to isolate what's actually happening in the brain.. Once we understand it.. Prevention will probably be surprisingly simple.. Genetic disease.. Most of it preventable through improved embryo screening.. And curable in living people through safer descendants of CRISPR.. Most mental illness.. Cured.. Depression.. PTSD.. Addiction.. Schizophrenia.. He believes the answer is some combination of biochemistry and neural network-level problems that AI can untangle.. And here's the line that stopped me.. Human lifespan.. Doubled.. To 150 years.. He points out that life expectancy already doubled in the 20th century.. From 40 to 75.. So doubling it again is "on trend".. Drugs already exist that increase maximum lifespan in rats by 25 to 50%.. Some turtles already live 200 years.. We're clearly not at a biological ceiling.. He calls this the "compressed 21st century".. The idea that AI gives us 100 years of biological progress in 5 to 10 years.. But he doesn't stop at health.. He thinks AI could drive 20% annual GDP growth in the developing world.. Bringing sub-Saharan Africa to China's current GDP per capita within a decade.. He thinks AI could eradicate malaria not through treating millions of people individually.. But by releasing modified mosquitoes that block the disease at the source.. One centralized action instead of a million.. He thinks AI could make democracy structurally stronger.. Not through propaganda.. But by giving every citizen an AI that knows every law they're entitled to.. Every benefit they qualify for.. Every right they have.. And helps them actually access it.. He imagines AI that monitors judicial systems for bias.. AI that helps find common ground between opposing political views.. AI that makes government services actually work the way they're supposed to.. And he addresses the question everyone asks.. What happens to meaning when AI can do everything.. His answer.. 🚨 BERLIN JUST SPENT €3.9 MILLION ON AI CAMERAS THAT SCAN HOW YOU MOVE. AN ARTIST BUILT AN $88 SHIRT THAT MAKES THE SOFTWARE STOP SEEING A PERSON. About 30 cameras went up at Kottbusser Tor this month, the first permanent AI surveillance of public space in Berlin outside the subway. Third German city to do it, after Mannheim and Hamburg. It isn't face recognition, which is the part everyone gets wrong. The software turns every person in frame into a skeleton, a bundle of moving vectors, then scans those vectors for movements the police defined in advance as suspicious. Lying down. Falling. Staggering. Kicking. Hitting. Cross the threshold and it alarms a human operator, who pulls up the real video and decides whether to send anyone. Officials sold this as privacy-friendly on the grounds that you're only ever a stick figure to it. Police say the software comes from a firm called Adesso. Simon Weckert, a Berlin artist, read all that and made a shirt. It's loud, covered in pink and orange and green blobs, the kind of thing your uncle wears to a barbecue thinking he looks great. Point a detector at Weckert in normal clothes and it draws a green box around him labeled "person." He holds the shirt up to his chest and the box vanishes. Object detection never learned what a human is. It learned what humans statistically look like across millions of labeled photos: sharp edges, contrast, the head-and-shoulders silhouette, limbs in the right proportion to a torso, an outline that stays continuous against whatever's behind it. Weckert's pattern floods those early layers with saturated noise and shatters the outline into pieces, and the model's confidence that anyone is standing there drops below the threshold where it bothers drawing a box. He found the pattern by running a generative model in a loop against the detector until it surfaced the blind spot. The AI taught the shirt how to hide from AI. The print runs unbroken across the buttons and seams, so a fold or a turn doesn't kill it. That was the flaw in earlier adversarial patches, which stopped working the second the fabric bunched. Then there's the law, which is where this gets strange. Germany bans covering your face at public gatherings. This shirt covers nothing. Your face is fully visible to any officer standing in front of you, and to anyone reviewing the footage later. The statute governs what people can see. It says nothing about what a neural network can. The technology also has a record. Hamburg tested the same class of behavior scanner and the police report showed roughly 1,400 alerts in two months, of which eleven were police-relevant. An earlier three-month run threw over a thousand alarms, about one every hour. One percent mattered to police. 0.1 percent mattered to a criminal case. Weckert doesn't oversell it. He's said plainly that no pattern beats every camera and that this isn't a tool for evading police. A system nobody outside the police can independently test is now reading a public square 24 hours a day, and $88 of printed polyester turns it off.
